    3. Lorelei, Actually you're listed in the Leaves section (not Andrew) http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/jobe/notandrew.html and also in The Twigs Section (miscellaneous who may be Andrew) researchers: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/jobe/homepages_twigs.html Now I'm trying to decide whether you should actually just be in the Twigs, miscellaneous section for possible descendants of Andrew Job SENIOR. If so, then I really should get at least some of your line added to the Twigs I file at http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown1 Lorelei, who is this John and/or Joseph that you believe could possibly be Aaron's father? Were John and/or Aaron born in the states/colonies? 3. Here's the info I've dug up so far. I haven't found that many Job(e)'s in the 1700s & very early 1800s in Philadelphia. I just can't help feel they're connected somehow. Could just be wishful thinking though. the oldest Aaron (born circa 1790) is listed in a later census as being born in Philadelphia. The earliest census he shows up in is the 1820, in Pennsylvania Township, Philadelphia, PA. I'm pretty sure of this connection, I just don't have the documention yet. I recently (finally!) uncovered the next Aaron's birthdate so I will be seeing what kind of birth certificate I can get through the mail from Philadelphia. John Job shows up in the 1810 census, but in Pennsylvania Township with 2 males listed, one 16-25 and the other 45+. So far this is the only reference I've found to John. Aaron, being born circa 1790, fits into the 16-25 category and seeing how he is listed in Penn Township in the 26-under 45 category in next census, makes me think that John is a good possiblity for Aaron's father. Now, I have found numerous mentions of a Joseph Job(e) in Philadelphia. It appears there are at least 2 different Josephs, one who is an adult in the early 1760s and one born circa 1760. I just don't know who they are or where they fit. Wouldn't it be something to find out that they're father and son with the younger Joseph being the above John's father? <grin> That's my theory - now all I have to do is prove, or disprove, it. LOL 1791 - Philadelphia Directory Job, Joseph stocking weaver 2 Cannon's Alley 1790 census Job, Joseph (in Northern Liberties Township) - 1 free white male 16 & up, 3 white females Military records from PA state archives 1780-1781 - Job, Joseph - listed on unit muster roll as Pvt., 3rd Company Capt. Co., PA 1763 - building of church named St George - a new church in Philadelphia was begun and the congregation prepared for the erection of a large church building but they got heavily into debt. A lot was purchased on Fourth Street below Story (now New Street) [Lorelei's note: this was written in 1884, I'm not sure how it corrolates with modern Philadelphia] Joseph Job appears in a list of men who apparently made themselves personally responsible for the debt of the land purchase. The quote is "The ground had been taken up in 1763 by.....list of names, last name is Joseph Job...upon ground-rent of Dr. Shippen." Several of the members were jailed for the debt and in 1769 petitioned the legislature to pass an act to allow them to sell off the church and pay their debts. The act was passed in Feb 1769 and the church was sold in 1770. (History of Philadelphia 1609-1884, Vol. 1 by J. Thomas Scarf & Thompson Weston; published in 1884) BTW, it was also mentioned that Benjamin Franklin was slightly involved in helping to collect funds, something about sending a letter to someone in Boston. That's as far back as I've found any mention. Of course, I'm still searching so who knows what will turn up. I'd like to see if I can find anything else about the St George church story just because now I'm curious to know whether Joseph Job was one of those that was arrested for the debt. I also need to get some better maps for old Philadelphia so I can try to plot out where in Philly these Job(e)s were located and what location had name changes over the years. Oh, and Ann, I have much of this info either as images on my computer or hard copies I printed. I'd be happy to send copies to you if you want them.
