The Stars & Stripes Vol 16, Number 175, Page 1 Friday, October 16, 1952 11 Die as B29 Explodes in Air PORTLAND, Ore., Oct. 9 (AP) - An Air Force crew of 11 died in the explosion and crash of a B29 bomber 18 miles south of here yesterday. The craft on a training flight from Travis Air Force Base at Fairfield, Calif., blew apart in midair and plummeted to earth. Debris was scattered over a mile-square area of timbered farmland. AF investigators searched the wreckage for a clue to the cause of the accident. Names of of the victims were announced at Travis today. The other two will be identified after relatives are notified. The dead include: Maj. Robert W. Head, 34, Travis AFB, plane commander; Maj. ROBERT C. JOBE, 32 Travis AFB; Lt. Orval C. Huffman, 32, Vacaville, Calif.; Capt. Parker A Goodall, 35 Travis, AFB; S. Sgt. Clarence Krohn, 32, Eden Ida.; A/2C Charles E.Wovries 21, Dayton, Ohio; S. Sgt. Billy E.Butler, 27, Salem, N.J.; A/2C Glenwood P. Dailey, Jr. 22, Muskogee, Okla.; and A/2C William E.
