To see this document, go to: Archibald Job and Margaret Rees http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/jobe/album/arch_job_rees.html CECIL COUNTY, MARYLAND COURT BOOK 16 pg. 69 I Archibald Job High Sheriff of Cecil County on the one part and George Bird of Cecil County on the other part witnesseth that wheras the Twenty Second day of November Seventeen Hundred and Eighty Five a certain Bond was perfected and entered into & signed by the said George Bird to the said Archibald Job for the fulfilling & performing the duties appreciating & attending to the duties of an under Sheriff of the said County, and on the back of which said Bond a Certain Instrument and agreement in writing was enforced into of the same date which said writing each of the parties did thereto sign their names of which said writing he the said Archibald Jobe promised to allow & pay to the said George Bird for & in consideration of the said writing he the said heretofore mentioned Bond & the writing theron one third of the profits arising from the Sheriffs office in and for Cecil County & one third of the goal fees for the true performance of the said Bond & acting & doing the business of undersheriff in North Susquehanna South Susquehannah & Charles Town hundreds of doing the necessary writing required for the Sheriffs Office attending the general Court attending the business of the goal & being at one third of the expence of goal provision & wood & goalers Salary & any damages or loss that might happen from or by said Goal & one third Damages of & costs accruing to said office. Now this instrument of writing witnessed that for & in consideration of the said George Birds fully Complying with the contract as is above set forth, up to the thirteenth day of June Instant from the day above mentioned for & in consideration of his faithful services in the duties as is mentioned in the said executed writing as also for the posting & regulating the accounts which ought to be liquidation between us & striking the ballance which have arose in the Sheriffs Office agreeable to the contract & agreement made between he the said Bird receving to himself one third part of the profits as is above mentioned & the said Archibald Job for the considerations as ____ do hereby quit claim & release the said George Bird & his heirs from all manner of risques costs & damages that may arrise from & after the said thirteenth day of June Instant as also do release him the said George Bird from the said writing dated the twenty second of November last after this day absolve It is hereby particulary agreed that the said Bird is to be answerable for & liable to pay his proportion of all Damages Costs and charges of said Office up to the said Thirteenth of June Instant if he receives the profits as is above mention & regulating the accounts appertaining to the said Office up to day last mentioned.
