    2. Ann (Jobe) Brown
    3. Just updated the Archibald Job- Margaret Rees Records album. Special Thanks to Marjorie Sherman. Later on, I'll be giving Archibald's children, Sarah (Job) Trimble and Andrew Job who married Abigail Miller their own records albums. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/jobe/album/rec_a_t_archibald.html http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4291681667 New records added indude: #7 and #8 - Feb 1787, Cecil Co., MD - Transcription of Job's Hope Survey #9, #10, #11, #12 - Feb 1787, Cecil Co., MD - Actual Copies of Survey of Job's Hope #13 - Nov 1788 - Transcription of patent for Job's Hope, Cecil Co., Maryland #14. #15 - Nov 1788- Actual paper of patent for Job's Hope

    1. Job's Hope and Land of Uz - NEW SITE, Tribute
    2. Ann (Jobe) Brown
    3. I just made a new page called Job's Hope and Land of Uz - Nottingham, Cecil Co., PA (Originally part of the Nottingham Lots) http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/jobe/jobs_hope_uz.html Be sure and check it out. It is linked under Andrew Job Jr, Thomas Vernon Job, Archibald Job and Daniel Job - those who inherited it. Special thanks to Marjorie Sherman and her husband. I do still have scans of the original documents to post in an album and links will then be posted on this page to the proper album. Will wait to hear from Freida as to WHICH ALBUM she believes will be the best to post the actual scans in. Though Archibald Job (1727-1812) actually owned the land when the survey and patent were done, before that it was owned by his father, Thomas Vernon Job and before that his grandfather, Andrew Job Jr. I do have them scanned and ready to go. I still have several wills to scan and post also - so depending on which albums these all go into - some may be divided. More will be posted on this later on. I also have 14 photos of the Brick Meeting House and cemetery so want to make a special tribute page for it also, besides posting the actual tombstone photos in the proper albums. (the ones that aren't already posted) Ann (Jobe) Brown

    1. Land Patent Process
    2. Ann (Jobe) Brown
    3. Marjorie, recieved the 3rd envelope today and tomorrow I hope to start getting these scanned to start adding to the albums. Now Marjorie also sent a link http://www.mdarchives.state.md.us/msa/refserv/genealogy/html/land.html which I found quite interesting. Marjorie has sent us scans for Archibald Job's land in Cecil Co. MD which was called Job's Hope. It was originally land that belonged to Thomas Vernon Job and probably to Andrew Job Jr. There seems to be 4 steps: Step 1 - obtaining a warrant Step 2 - having land surveyed Step 3 - patenting the land Step 4 (optional) - The Caveat Process Anyway found this site quite interesting and explains a lot, especially since this is where our early Job families lived. When I post these to the albums, I'm going to post the actual scanned records that Marjorie got for us and also a scan of the transcription that she has typed up and spaced so beautifully for us. but at least I now know - 1) Warrant 2) Survey and then 3) Patent. Hope I wasn't the only one who was getting confused! >grin<' Now I'm still wondering about the significance of the land being called Job's Hope. Remember Andrew and Thomas and all of Thomas's children were Quakers and Thomas's descendants remained Quakers longer than the rest. I automatically think of Job in the Bible where he lost just about everything - his children, wealth, etc. But in the end he got it all back and more. This land was originally surveyed in 1702 for Andrew Job Jr - being the middle part of the Eastermost South Lot in Nottingham. See our map on Andrew Job Jr's tribute site http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/jobe/andrew.html Ann

    3. fascinating! Patti Looks like we may be getting quite a lot of records, letters, and other things relating to the descendants of Sarah Job and James R. Trimble. We received a very complimentary letter regarding the site from Beth Lorenzini and she has quite a few things that she is willing to share with us. This goes along with the wills and other records that Marjorie Sherman sent to me by snailmail (transcriptions already posted) which I still have to scan and get posted to the proper places. One of the items she mentioned is the magazine article below, which Freida found online. I made links to this on our main Job(e) site under resources and under Thomas Job, s/o Andrew Job Jr. Remember this article was published in May 1876 so was written by someone who was living 130 years ago. 2. Ann (Jobe) Brown
    3. Though here in the icy north (and we did have a snow storm last night and it is now 1 below zero officially with a wind-chill of 18 below zero) it is not Thanksgiving (ours is in early October), but I do want to wish everyone a great Thanksgiving. Lets try and take a moment to be thankful for what we do have and for the countries that we live in and the abundance that we have and our freedoms. Though my son is still overseas, we do believe he is now back in Islamabad, Pakistan. At least that was where he was suppose to have left for about 3-4 days ago. So he should be living ' a bit better' than he has for the past 5 weeks where he was with the DART team helping the earthquake victims. From what he has briefly told us, we here in Canada and the United States indeed have MUCH to be thankful for. I want to thank each and every one of you for your contributions to the Job(e) website and for helping to make it a site that we can all be proud of. And many of you have become very dear friends that I count on daily for encouragement and someone just to confide in and to 'share' all the many Job(e) discoveries that are being made daily. I am especially thankful that I got to meet several of you this past year. As a child, my Thanksgivings were always spent at Grandma Jobes in Weatherford, Texas where she lived with her daughter, Aunt Annie. As her birthday was November 23rd and several others were near this time, it would be a combined celebration. Often, Mommy would be working - telephone operator. So Daddy, my sister, and I, would stop in Ft. Worth and pick up Auntie (Daddy's sister) and her daughter, Lois, and drive over to Weatherford. It used to take little over 2 hours to get there but today you could make it in 45 minutes - even from Grand Prairie. And with Grandma having 9 children and a host of nieces and nephews, one just never knew who would show up for the gathering. Hard to believe, but just realized that of the people that I just mentioned that were at Grandma's house - I'm the only one still living. But we always can be thankful for those memories and times that we had together. Anyway, God Bless each and every one of you and have a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving. If you have any Thanksgiving stories that you would like to share, please feel free to do so. Ann (Jobe) Brown
