    2. Billye Jobe
    3. Freida, I live in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Our DAR chapter is very active, and those of us that subscribe to the American Spirit magazine love it. As of 2004, volunteers are entering applications of members so that they will be digitized. We started with 1956 and are now in 1965, the volunteers have done over 100,000 and they have been proofed and are being used by the genealogists at National. This project was sorely needed because the old applications are fading. All approved applications have been scanned and are stored at Iron Mountain. Our chapter has 7 members working at this time. > [Original Message] > From: Freida Wells <freida49@yahoo.com> > To: <JOB-L@rootsweb.com> > Date: 1/11/2006 1:35:07 PM > Subject: [JOB] American Spirit DAR Magazine > > Hello all, > > While spending many long hours at the hospital with Leon I came across a magazine called American Spirit, a magazine published by the DAR. > > I did not know that they had a magazine and it is really nice, NO advertising at all. > > If any of your are intersted in subscribing to it, here is the info. 3. Hello all, Happy New Year to you. Wanted to write the list and let you know that my husband was diagnoised with colon cancer this week and they did surgery on him yesterday. His blood count was 4.2 which is a miracle in itself that he is still with us today. He is a big man so thanks to that and the good Lord up above I still have him with me. They had to give him 7 units of blood before they could do the surgery. He has been sick for a very long time and no one could find the problem until a heart doctor in Bartlesville, OK did an anemia blood test on him and found the problem. He has been in the hosptial since last Thursday. The surgery went well and he is doing fine. We are waiting to hear if the cancer was in the colon wall that they removed but other than that she did not find anymore. But there was a large mass in his colon above his liver and they removed about a foot of his colon. He slept most of the day today as I knew he would, but he can turn himself in bed already and by tomorrow should be up and walking some. Leon bounces back fast from surgery and I do not expect this one to be any different. He will want to get out and come home as soon as Dr. Herron will let him. 2. I recommend doing a Google search on Alexander Campbell. He was from Ireland and was very influential in the U.S. Christian Restoration. He promoted using the Bible only, not handed down creeds or inherited beliefs. The link below is an example of information available. http://www.bible.acu.edu/crs/doc/cblt.htm CAMPBELLITE AND RESTORATIONIST TRADITIONS IN THE SOUTH Sherm Jobe

    3. Above my hometown of Corinth, MS and on the way to Pickwick Lake to fish with my Dad, I counted several Baptist churches, Four Square Baptist, Foot Washing Baptist, Primitive Baptist, Southern Baptist and several others which I cannot remember. Of course this was in the late 40's and I wish that I could remember the rest. During the 1800's there was a great revival in religion in America such as we have never witnessed in our times. There were many denominations that sprung up, flourished for several years and died out.
