Ann I found the following , it tells all abut it and there is even a map. There has even been a book written about it. I remember hearing about this is a documentary on the History Channel. As you can see from the update of Job(e) Legacy, it appears that everything did transfer fine. It is quite a bit different than version 11 and earlier. To be honest, it is more for newcomers and those those who subscribe to a lot of the subscriptions that ancestry offers as the search that it does concentrates on those offered by ancestry and not actually the web . I can see where the automatic easy merging with other files is going to cause many erronous files in the future. As I've told many, I NEVER MERGE - but enter everything individually - even if it takes much longer - but at least I know what is in there. The note area is much larger than before which for me is good news as my notes are EXTENSIVE. However, they are being discouraged and actual sources are being promoted more. But as anyone who has used ancestry knows you can find a person on the census, and if you don't know the family - three and four can come up. If someone merges their file with the wrong one - well a MESS. I find that it takes away the 'personal involment' and it is a feature that I,personally, will not be using. A good feature is that you can export a file from this version into any version of FTM that you require. I also like that the parent's names of the head members you're working with shows at the top. Still learning and asking questions on the FTM list when needed. I have finally discovered how to make the notes screen the full-size of the monitor. Also, I now have the tool bar set up for MY preferences. Very confusing until you get it set the way that you want. For example, I was trying to find the index to go immediately to a person and it took me several minutes to locate it as it was in the middle of the tool bar. It is NOW back on the left, 1st entry, where I had it before. There was also a Charting Companion that came with it - which I downloaded. It is really great for printing out various colorful charts, many variations, - such as the one I sent you and Donna. Stil discoverning and getting used to it! Bill Lindsey has sent me the estate papers for Zachariah Simms Simpson and since there were so many I have made a seperate album for it. Ann and I do this sometimes if there are a lot of records, we like to try and keep them to 30 and not over 40 if we can, that way it does take as long to load and to look it. There are 33 documents in the Estate album and 10 in their personal album. Lots of history here for Bill's family and we thank him very much for sharing. Good afternoon everyone. In reading over the letters from some of our folks in the military, both U.S. and Canada, I would just like to ask everyone to pray each day for each other. First those in harm's way and their loved ones and then all of rest of us. This is the season to begin doing what God asks of us and that is to love one another. In God's way He will help us all and give us peace. Peace be to all in the name of The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. Stan
First of all want to wish everyone a Happy Easter. We have a bright sunny day here in Northern Ontario - though it is presently 43, so still on the chilly side. As Freida said earlier, we were quite busy yesterday adding lots of new information and photos/records/memorials to the albums. I just updated Job(e) Legacy with 171 new entries in the last 3 days. http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown I believe that I'm caught up with the indexes for the Joshua Pryor - Sarah Odle group (though know it will be short-lived). These can be viewed at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/j_joshua.html#sarah_odle As you can see some of the sections are starting to fill in rather nice. Ann (Jobe) Brown http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/index.html
