    2. Patti
    3. I'm on digest for another surname list and saw the first one this morning--it really IS better!!! xoxo Patti Well I just received the 1st digest, at another address that I have, and personally I like it much better this way with NO attachments and all in plain text with a summary at the top. See that the tag line came through fine on the last test letter. If anyone is on letter mode and they would just like to see what a digest looks like (with the new format) - write me personally and I'll forward you the one that I just received. 1. [JOB] New Welcome Letter
    2. Ann (Jobe) Brown
    3. Welcome to the JOB mailing list! The Job list is compiled of a very friendly close-knit group. Over the years, we have become friends who care about each other and many of us correspond on a personal level and have even met. My name is Ann and I usually sign my name as Ann (Jobe) Brown. Any questions, problems or concerns, always feel free to write me directly at ann@personainternet.com Here, you will find the surname Job and Job(e) used almost interchangeably. In fact, I don't believe that I've ever discovered anyone with the Jobe spelling who cannot be traced back to a Job spelling. My own 4th great grandfather, Isaac Job(e), on his War of 1812 record is filed BOTH ways. There is a Jobe surname mailing list which Randy Jobe is administrator. I manage both the Job and Jobe surname boards. Randy and I are close friends and work very closely together and we both subscribe to both lists. Both of us have spent our entire lives researching the Job(e) surname. To avoid a lot of duplication, the Job list is more active and that is where I post updates about the website and gedcoms. I try and make sure that any pertinent board postings, either Job or Jobe do get to the list. Just a quick note on the Jobs and Jobes spelling. Since at this time, there is no lists for these spellings and I do have a small section on the website for them, we do encourage these postings as well. We do have a very extensive website, over 1800 pages now, which I call Job, Jobe, Jobs, Jobes - Links to Great Information http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/jobe.html The website is divided into 5 sections: 1) Resources (all spellings) 2) State Links (all spellings) 3) Jobs - Jobes spelling 4) Leaves - NOT descendants of Andrew Job Senior 5) and our main section is for Andrew Job Senior (1622-1700). This section is also divided into 3 sections, 2 small ones and one very large group. ---5a) Twigs, Probable, but not proven, descendants of Andrew Job Senior ----5b) Branches: Descendants of Thomas Job who left a will 1786 in Rowan Co., NC ----5c) our largest section, Legacy, which is for the descendants of Andrew Job Junior (1622-1700) and his wife, Elizabeth Vernon. About 95% of our subscribers descend from Andrew Job Senior either through Legacy (70%), Branches (20%) or Twigs (5%). Since most of us do descend from Andrew Job Jr and Elizabeth Vernon, this part of our website has been developed more and is talked about the most. I really would like to develop the Branches part more, but need more help with this group in order to do so. Plus I only have so much time. Now just a note of explanation about the Andrew Job Junior section and how it is divided. Originally we started with one page, which as I said, this section alone is now close to 1800 pages - divided into sites for each of Andrew Junior's children. Both Randy and myself descend from Andrew Junior's son, Caleb Job who married Barbary Unknown. First of all I have to give most of the credit for this section being developed to Freida Wells. She has been a real inspiration, encouragement and just filled with wonderful ideas. All the albums (original records, old photos and memorials) are on a site which she maintains. She is also in charge of the Joshua Job(e) - Margaret MacKay/McKay descendants. She is always coming up with wonderful ideas for various pages and keeps me motivated. The tribute pages, letters, heirlooms, Memory Lane pages were all HER idea and between us we developed them into a reality. Patti Jobe also helps us with posting and other items as she is able. I also have a group of people that I can call upon to help with transcribing old documents - Lonnie Vander Pol, Jill Jobe, Margaret Jobe, Patti Jobe and others. As I said, we all work together and the entire site is a Team Effort. This is not a list of many rules and we are very relaxed. If we do occasionally get off topic - please bear with us. Remember we all care for each other and many have known each other for sometime - so when bad weather hits a part of the country, one of our children are in the military, one of our family gets sick - we ALL want to know. --Please do NOT write the list and blind copy others (bcc) at the same time. It will cause me a lot of problems at this end. You may cc others but do not bcc. --I have it set that when you click on a reply from the list, it will automatically go directly to the list. If you want to write just the poster, then please check the to field. If it concerns the Job(e) family in any way - please do copy the list also. --Try to keep the subject line relevant and when replying to a posting, delete as much of the previous posting as possible. --Since I no longer know the reason WHY you're being unsubscribed, a quick note directly to me would also be appreciated. To post a message to this list, send your email to: JOB@rootsweb.com Please note that all messages posted to this mailing list are also added to the list archives on RootsWeb.com General information about the mailing list, including links to the list archives, can be found at: http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/surname/j/job.html To unsubscribe from the list, including the list digest, please send an email to JOB-request@rootsweb.com with the word "unsubscribe" in the subject and the body of the email with no additional text. 1. [JOB] Digest members now restored
    2. Ann (Jobe) Brown
    3. Just to let everyone know that I just heard from rootsweb staff and our digest members have now been restored . Looks like everyone is with us again - though it will take a few letters before I know for sure that everyone is receiving and doesn't have us blocked at their end - unintentionally. Next, I'll be sending a new welcome message that I worked on. This will be the letter that everyone will receive when they subscribe. In the letter - the part from To Post a Message down, I have no control of that. It is standard for all lists. Just one comment about the link for generatl infomformation about the list, it will not be updated by Rootsweb until ALL the lists have migrated and the schedule for migration was just updated. Now the welcome letter is a bit long, but we have a very large website to explain, so PLEASE (with any replies to it) - don't quote the entire message. 3. looks great! Someone could receive a forwarded message from a list member and be able to contact you two if they wished, since that is in the footer. xoxo Let's see if the tag line looks better this time. 1. [JOB] Job list has migrated
    2. Ann (Jobe) Brown
    3. Just a quick note (and test message) to let you know that the Job list has now migrated to the mailman server. Please put Job@rootsweb.com in your address book and use this address for posting. More will be forthcoming. I've worked on a new welcome letter which I will post to the list later on today (hopefully). Right now, it appears that the "Digest Subscribers" did not get moved over. So if you're reading this in the archives and you didn't receive and you're a digest member you know why. If you're reading this in the archives and you were a letter subscriber, and you did NOT receive this in your mail box - please write me ASAP at ann@personainternet.com There is no need for the Digest subscribers to panic or resubsribe at this time (unless they want to subscribe in letter mode) - as I did save a list of ALL the subscribers and the staff at Rootsweb are working on re-establishing the Digest subscribers. Remember if you were subscribed in both letter and digest mode with the SAME address before the migration - you will automatically be only subscribed in letter mode now. *If you receive this letter in your normal mail like before - then you are still on the list and everything is fine. 1. List Update
    2. Ann (Jobe) Brown
    3. We're still on the schedule to be migrated tomorrow - probably in late afternoon (eastern time zone). On the ones done yesterday and today (D-H) there were some problems that hopefully will be straighten out before we 'move'. I have printed off a list of all the subscribers (by the way I didn't do this for my other list - only the Job one) and the mode that everyone is presently in and I'll be going through it one by one - though might be Thursday morning before I get it done as will be out for 3-4 hours in the evening tomorrow. Once it is migrated, I will write and let everyone know. Keep your fingers crossed! If you haven't received a letter from the list by Thursday evening - WRITE ME personally! 2. Ann (Jobe) Brown
    3. *First of all no word on when our list will be migrated to the mailman server. There has been quite a few problems with delivery. *Also, I'm basically doing the same thing that Freida is doing with the Joshua Job descendant albums - but since I manage the ENTIRE Job(e) site, I'll be working with 'pockets of families' as I get a chance, and mainly based upon requests that come in. Right now I'm working on the James Alfred Jobe and Milly Norrid family - so if you have anything at all for this family to add to the posted albums - please try and get it to me as soon as possible. In the next few days, I'll be adding lots of new records for this group. -------------- A new PHOTO album was made this morning for Bettie (Bittle) Osburn - the d/o Arabella (Jobe) Bittle and gd/o James Alfred Jobe and Milly Norrid. 1. New Albums
    2. Freida Wells
    3. Greetings all, I have decided it is time to divide many of the albums that I have worked on for so long and take the lines on down and make it easier for people. I have started with Joshua Job and Margaret MacKay my direct line. All that I will be working on will be of this line, so for those of you who descend from this couple will want to be sure and check out any new documents or other items that I might find. I want to thank Ann for helping me with this and also keeping the GREAT INDEX for all the lines. I would hate to think what it would be like without her assistance on this. Remember when we had all of this one ONE site! WOW have we come a long way!!! First Family - Abraham Job and Molly Vaughn - s/ o Enoch Job, Sr. and Unknown wife. gs/o Joshua Job and Margaret MacKay & gt gs/o Andrew Job, Jr. and Elizabeth Vernon. There is only one image in this album and that is their marriage record thanks to Earl Jobe for getting for us. I have not been able to locate them on any census as of yet. His father's album is still there but also only has one image, his signature from the marriage record of his son. http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=2102946779 http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/jobe/album/abe_job_vaughn.html I will next be moving on the Jeremiah Odle and Margaret Evens. s/o Elizabeth Job and Samuel Odell II (ODLE). All that is in their album is for their children, so will try and locate some for them as well so we might keep their album and I will be making albums for the some of the children. If you have anything you can contribute to any of the albums we have online, please do contact Ann or I. Freida

So don't expect our Job list to be migrated now until next week. http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/migrate_sched.html *2) Job(e) Legacy was just updated with 362 new entries in the last 13 days http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown *3)The last 2 days I worked on the Abraham Job (s/o Andrew Job Jr) part of our website http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/j_abraham.html ---------new quick links were made for the son Isaac, grandson James and his descendants. Also new information was added to Legacy for the descendants of James Alfred Jobe and Milly Norrid and several albums were divided and a couple of new photos were added. (I do have a folder of records to post to these also) To see the new albums, go to this quick link on Abraham's site http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/j_abraham.html#james_alfred One old photo that you'll want to be sure to see is http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/jobe/album/pic/arabella.html http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=2102761027 -----#1 William Bittle Family ---------- William, his wife, Josephine (Heffington) and their 3 children, Gertie, Iva and James. ----------- William was s/o Arablla (Jobe) Bittle, gs/o James Alfred Jobe and Milly Norrid and gt gs/o James Jobe and Catherine Pitt -----------Submitted by Judi Raterman, Courtesy of Ina Lou Bittle 4) I know other parts of the Abraham site, along with the sites for Jacob, Patience and Thomas really need work on them. If you're from one of these lines and you have a "special request" for me to work on a family in particuliar, and you have several things to share with us for the family, I'll be happy to jump over to your family and organize it a bit more. Otherwise, I work on what comes in, and with the Job(E) family there is always something coming in. 3. Greetings all, Today while looking at the IL State Genealogical Society website I came upon a link called "Newpaper Abstracts" http://www.newspaperabstracts.com/index.php so decided to check it out. Turns out it is a FREE site and people all around post newspaper articles to it. I could not locate a search engine, so clicked onto one of the links on the left side of the webpage. It will bring up a list of newspapers that this particular person has submitted. At the bottom of the list there is a link that says " Find all articles submitted by this person, well if you click onto that link it will bring up a complete list of all the newspapers that person has submitted from and at the bottom of the list there is a search engine that says "Narrow results to articles containing _____ REFINE. Where the search engine box is just type in a name . I have been having some luck on finding some JOBE articles and three of them are for the Charles Stoddard JOBE line in Tehama Co., CA. Those that I do not recognize Ann is working so will let her write the list about them, and we do have so far on Unidentified J. Harvey JOBE, from Greene Co OH. Anyone can submitt to this site and they also have a mailing list that you can join so you will get updates when new things are posted. I certainly joined this list. Newspaper articles are a GOLD MINE as far as I am concerned, you can sure learn a lot from them, and I know that I will be contributing to this site as they have NONE for KANSAS so far. Here are the three articles for the Charles Stoddard JOBE group, Terry do you have these? Would like the actual copy if you can get for us. Northern California News Items Saturday Bee Sacramento, Cal. September 9, 1905 Page 6 TEHAMA COUNTY SCHOOL AFFAIRS Harmony Among Teachers And Members Of Board Of Education More Pronounced And Peace Reigns RED BLUFF (Tehama Co.), Sept. 9 - The mix-up in public school matters here has received quite a settling this week and there is every prospect now that greater harmony will prevail in the future. The resignation of Miss Clara Bell MILLER as a member of the County Board of Education was accepted by the Board of Supervisors and Professor Jesse M. OSBORN, formerly Vice-Principal of the Red Bluff school, was chosen in her stead. It is expected that the new appointee will succeed Miss Miller as President of the Board and that he will be of great assistance in furthering the work of the district schools. Miss Ellen A. LYNCH, County Superintendent of Schools, has been at "outs," it is said, with Miss Mamie B. LANG, who has boomed as a possible Democratic candidate for County Superintendent, and also with Miss Miller, Miss LYNCH and Miss FISH have been quite friendly, while Miss JOBE, the fifth members of eh Board, has been rather inclined to be neutral. An attempt was made in certain quarters to do "politics" in educational matters, but this sort of thing is not favored by many who believe that the public schools should be non-partisan. The appointment of T.H. RAMSEY as School Trustee and District Clerk in Antelope School District settles a deadlock of several months standing in that community, just across the river from this city, and the new officer, it is said, will harmonize his associates on the Board. Trustees DAMSELL and CLYMAN, who have not agreed. The present teachers, Mrs. C.A. QUIGLEY, Principal, and Miss LANG, will not be disturbed and school will begin Monday, September 11th. Mrs. Ramsey is manager of the Cone ranch and was formerly Superintendent of the Stanford ranch at Vina.
