    3. With some pretty bad weather around the country, Please tell us how you're coping. I just heard that there had been a very severe ice storm that hit the Dallas-Ft. Worth area where my mother is and where I grew up. Anyone from that area that can give me an update. Here in northern Ontario, it is just bitterly cold. We do have snow - though for us very little. Here tonight it is suppose to be 13 below zero - and that doesn't take into account the wind chill factor. All day we've had warnings not to stay outside for long due to frostbite danger. The shelters are remaining open all night for those who need them. Ann

    3. Here in northwestern Oregon we have had cold weather for nearly two weeks. This was a good thing for us because it has frozen the ground down 3 to 4 inches. There was no snow on the ground at the time of freezing and it has stayed below freezing for several days. The reason this is good is because this will kill back parasites in our pastures. We haven't had a good freeze like this in quite a few years. This morning we woke up to snow coming down. We have about four inches on the ground at our place. This afternoon we hiked the trails on our property and it was very beautiful. It is still very cold so those parasites are still getting it! We saw squirrel and bird tracks in the woods. Also, icicles in the creek. And we heard the great horned owls hooting up in the trees. Schools were closed all around the Portland, Oregon/Vancouver, Washington area today. There were many accidents all over the place. Lots of sledding accidents were reported at the various hospitals. You have to understand that we have not had weather like this for quite a few years. So folks sometimes don't know how to behave or how to drive (or stay home). Melinda Spring Creek Llama Ranch www.springcreekllamas.com <http://www.springcreekllamas.com/>

    3. Here in Houston we are hovering around 33 degrees at the moment. It is raining slightly and we're under an ice storm warning. Dallas has had freezing rain today and might get snow tonight. They are under a winter weather warning with the possibility of snow tonight and snow/sleet tomorrow. The forecast doesn't look good for the rest of the week either. 3. Yesterday was a Federal Holiday (Martin Luther King Day)....so there were a lot of closings due to that. There were other closings as well...very few folks were out on the streets per the incessant news reports. There were some wrecks VERY early in the morning that were covered over and over. After that, folks seemed to stay put. I know we did. "Ann (Jobe) Brown" <ann@personainternet.com> wrote: Thanks Malinda, Hope the power wasn't out for long. Geetings all and Happy New Year to you where ever you are from the Sunshine state (now cloudy and wet), The family of Gideon Madison Job has been expanded greatly with lots of new Record, Photo and Memorial albums being made with the biggest part being on the Jesse Lee Job and Dora Sherwood family. We wish to thank Duane Harsell for sharing his wife's family information with us. We have been working on these albums for over two months now and there is lots to see and read, especially the Love Letters in which Herbert Hadley Job s/o Jesse Lee Job wrote to his future wife Mildred Wanetta Shires. Duane's wife has transcribed then and Duane sent to us and Ann posted in the Memory Lane section. The letters are extensive and there are 5 different albums to cover them and also cards in which they sent to one another. You can view all by going to this site: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/j_joshua2.html#jeremiah_thorpe We would also like to thank Margaret (Job) Sherman for her assistane and the family of Lisa Harsell for their assistance in helping us to perserve this family legacy. 3. As you get a chance, everyone should read the postings at Rootsweb Newsroom. There have been a lot of changes lately. Some you will notice and some you won't depending on your acitivity level. Since I manage a list, several boards, have a rootsweb site and over 15 world connect files on Rootsweb - just about everyone affects me in some way. One that you've seen on the lists recently is how gatewayed messages on the lists now come through and that when you do go to these postings that the format there is different than before. http://blogs.rootsweb.com:80/newsroom/ It is a place for the RootsWeb staff to tell you about new and upcoming tools, features, fixes, and changes on RootsWeb. *all the cemetery postings lately that have come across the list from the boards have to do with the Nathan Jobe - Martha Azbell line - which is part of my Samuel Job and Dorcas MacKay group. Some, but not all YET, are posted in our memorial albums. 3. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all Job/Jobe cousins! We traveled to Missouri to visit my family and had a wonderful time. Good weather, no snow or ice to contend with, thank goodness. Lots of food, laughter, food, cameras/photos, games, and did I mention lots of food?? *smile* Our special blessing was to receive a phone call on Christmas Eve from our son Will, in Iraq. We didn't expect to get one, and we had a lovely long conversation with him. Hooray!! God bless you all in 2007! Patti Jobe Oklahoma

    3. Received the following from a cousin in AZ. Thought I would pass it on to those who have been thinking about getting the new version. I am sure all the stores have the same thing not just Sam's. Freida I was wandering around Sam's Club today and happened to notice the latest Family Tree Maker software. I don't really need the newer version, but with it comes 9 months of unlimited access to ancestry.com. The software was $39.87 for version 16. The offer expires in January of 2009. I know that a year's worth of ancestry.com is usually over $200.

    3. Merry Christmas to all our Jobb cousins from Southeastern Pennsylvania. This has been a tough Christmas this year as we have a son in Iraq...and we just pray he gets home by March healthy. We had our son and his family over for Christmas Eve and our neighbors in for christmas breakfast. Then my very ill husband decided to get a little sicker...so now we are here watching the Eagles and Dallas play their football game...really not feeling too sorry for ourself...especially when we think of all those in the military away from home. Thank you everyone for all the interesting Jobb stories and history.. Have a great 2007! 1. [JOB] Merry Christmas (Off- Topic)
    2. Ann (Jobe) Brown
    3. Merry Christmas to ALL my Job and Jobe cousins and friends. (remember if replying - delete most of this message) Spending a quiet day here in Ontario - WITHOUT SNOW, only the 3rd Christmas since I've been in Canada (1972) that we have not had snow on Christmas Day. Anyone on the list have snow where they are? It is 35 though with a low tonight of 14 and a high tomorrow of 23. Then for Tuesday predicting a low of 10 and for Wednesday a low of 1 - so don't start envying me yet - if you do have bad weather. Allan is working - he did take a week's vacation last week to spend time with Philip, Philip slept until noon, and Chantale visiting Ron's parents. We did get together with Chantale and the boys on Saturday. Will update my personal page in January with them. As of now, Philip leaves February 6th for Afghanistan. Really missing my friend who passed away about 10 days ago - rather suddenly. We used to spend an hour every Christmas morning talking together on the messenger - so was very different this year. Did get a call from my grandson, Evan, who is almost 7. He got up at 4 AM while the house was still dark and quiet - hoping to catch Santa. He didn't catch Santa, but he did see all the presents he had left. So he did what most his age would do - be extremely quiet and start opening those that had his name on it. Then he took one and went back to bed. At 6;30 AM, Chantale did hear him and went in and said he could get up and look in his stocking while Daddy and brother, Chad, who is 4, got up. Then she went downstairs and couldn't believe HER EYES. All of Evan's presents were opened and the paper was carefully folded under each one. Then came Evan down the stairs, saying "Mommy, I only opened those that had MY NAME on it and even left the paper under each one - so you could see that I didn't open Chads or yours. Well you can imagine what happened when Chad came down the stairs and saw that Even had gotten the 'jump' on him. Anyone got any Christmas stories? How did you spend the holidays? What's the weather like? Tomorrow here in Canada, it is Boxing Day and here in Sudbury, the malls and just about everything else is closed or opens late. The movie theatre is open and Philip and I plan on seeing Night at the Museum. My first choice was to see Pursuit of Happiness, but this one we agreed on and was in the three that I gave him to choose on. WE all went to see Rocky Balboa the other day. Now I really feel old - seeing the original Rocky on TV after and it was done in 1976 - even before Philip was born. He didn't believe me though when I told him it was done in the70's. Then on Wednesday - we hit the malls and probably meet Chantale and the boys somewhere. Thursday, Philip leaves to go back to homebase.
