James Jobe, was born in Middle Tennessee and when a young man went to Paris, in Henry County, West Tennessee, where he married Miss Millie Ward, who was a native of that county. There they continued to reside till 1861, when they immigrated to Fulton County, Arkansas, and the next year to Van Buren County, where they lived till 1877, when they removed to Mount Vernon, in Faulkner County, where Mr. Jobe died in the year 1880. He was a farmer ! by occupation, and from 1862 was a soldier in the Confederate army; prior to the war he had been captain of the militia. Mrs. Jobe is still living and is a member of the Missionary Baptist Church. Her father was John Ward, a prominent farmer of Henry County, Tennessee, where he died. The subject of our sketch is the third of a family of three sons and five daughters, all of whom are still living. He remained at home and assisted in the support of the family till 25 years of age, when he spent about two years in the stock business. He then engaged in mercantile pursuits at Mount Vernon where he continued about two years, when he removed to Wooster, where he continued in the mercantile business until his removal to Morrilton in 1888, since which time he has been engaged in the livery business. He is well equipped and is always ready to accommodate the traveling public. He also runs a transfer line between the river at old Lewisburg and Morrilton. He was married in 1881 to Mis! s Mollie Elliott, a native of Mississippi, but from about three years old was reared in Searcy, Ark. Her parents are now living at Mount Vernon. Mr. and Mrs. Jobe are the parents of four children. Mr. Jobe is a member of the East Fork Lodge, A. F. and A. M., No. 327. I now have a new gedcom on world connect at http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown11 As most of you know, I descend from Caleb Job and his wife, Barbary (whose maiden name, even after decades of searching is still unknown). However, we do know after Caleb Job's death in 1750 Augusta Co., Virginia that Barbary remarried to Ephraim Leath and had 5 more children - all of which are related to the Caleb Job descendants. Ephriam Leath was also the uncle of Josiah Leath, Sr., who married Elizabeth Job, d/o Caleb Job. Now of the 5 children of Barbary (?) Job Leath, some of these intermarried with the MacKay/McKay family - making several of these also related to the Joshua Job-Margaret MacKay descendants, Abraham Job - Elizabeth MacKay descendants , Mary Job - Moses MacKay descendants, and the Patience Job - Robert MacKay Jr. descendants. If anyone has any corrections and/or additions to what is posted on this gedcom, please write me directly at ann@personainternet.com Barbary's children by Caleb Job will continue to be shown in Job(e) Legacy. This new file will only be showing her descendants by Ephriam Leath. An inappropriate message did get through to the JobE list - but so far, hasn't come through the Job list. However, two coments were made about it on the Job list instead of the JobE list. They are subscribed to both lists and didn't realize that it had went to only the one list. (very easy done) I'm sure that Randy will deal with it on the JobE list. Remember if you go to the main Jobe links page at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/jobe.html at the top there are two links to browse archies - one for the Job list, which I administer, and one for the Jobe list, which Randy administers. Please do remember though both of our lists are gatewayed from the boards so we will occasionally get postings that are made there from non members. Hopefully they are genealogically related. If not, I, as administer of BOTH boards, will go in and delete them from the boards. As to what happened, I have no way of knowing whether the poster is a subscriber or not or if the rootsweb spam filter didn't catch the message. Either way, remember myself or Randy, when things like this get accidentally through, we do NOT agree with it and will deal with it appropriately - in this case it will be Randy as was the JobE list. If I send something to the list that is not genealogically in nature, I will put OFF TOPIC in subject line and hopefully isn't something that would offend anyone. Remember there are about 20-25 of us subscribed to BOTH lists. However, there are still another 50 or so more subscribed to just the JobE list and a whole differerent 35-40 to just the Job list. Hopefully I'll get an update done later on today as lots new has been added since the last one. Any questions or comments about the above - please write me personally. Thanks. Well, you've got us all BEAT--ha! And I guess there are bad drivers everywhere, eh? Stay warm! Patti Jobe Oklahoma Good morning: We have had the snow this year, plus weeks of cold below 0 degrees (one night it was minus 25 degrees here in Anchorage), plus ice and sunshine but nothing so severe as the ice storms of the mid west. There are snow mountains (10-15 feet high) in the parking areas around our condos and you cannot find the sidewalks because of the build up of 6 plus inches of ice and snow. We all have ice dams on the roofs with 2 to 4 feet of snow on top of that. Up here the kids still go out to recess until the temperature reaches minus 10 degrees. And our biggest problem are the drivers who drive too fast and crash because of the ice. :-) You all stay safe and warm. Charles and Linda Jobe Anchorage, Alaska

Here in SE Michigan, our temps were above freezing when all the precipitation came in the form of rain (about two inches). We have little to complain about except for all of the standing water and a few seeps in the basement. The neighboring counties to the North and West got the ice storms and power outages, so we are very thankful that our County that hugs Lake Erie was 5-10 degrees warmer than those around us. Let's hope that El Nino repositions and we return to a more normal winter. Those of you that are having extreme conditions and loosing power, please know we're thinking about you. Here in NE Oklahoma, we got slammed with bad weather. All 77 counties declared a disaster area. Nearly 100,000 homes without power. We were prepared to lose our electricity but I'm sure glad we kept it anyway. No school through tomorrow and likely Friday, too. Really unheard of to lose an entire week of school here! We have about 4 inches of solid ice outside and it's not going anywhere til it warms up enough and that's not happening for several days. It's very cold and it didn't surprise me at all to check the temps in other areas and see that even Edmonton Alberta was warmer by 15 degrees--ha! Robert has more work to take care of the livestock with the water frozen. Looking forward to getting out of this and having just 'normal' winter weather! :o) Patti Jobe With some pretty bad weather around the country, Please tell us how you're coping. I just heard that there had been a very severe ice storm that hit the Dallas-Ft. Worth area where my mother is and where I grew up. Anyone from that area that can give me an update. Here in northern Ontario, it is just bitterly cold. We do have snow - though for us very little. Here tonight it is suppose to be 13 below zero - and that doesn't take into account the wind chill factor. All day we've had warnings not to stay outside for long due to frostbite danger. In cenral Arkansas we had only rain five to eight inches in some areas. The state is grieving for a college student from Conway whose vehicle was washed into a flooded creek. the stream normally will rise six to eight inches when it floods; this time it rose to six feet. If this had been ice we would be in a mess. Our first really cold air hit just after the moisture. gayla -----Original Message----- From: RJobe@gemcity.com To: job@rootsweb.com Sent: Wed, 17 Jan 2007 7:03 AM Subject: Re: [JOB] (off topic) Weather Well, here in Dayton, Ohio area it's been the balmiest winter I can ever remember. We've had highs in the 50s and have rarely made it as low as 20. Incredibly there has been little snow, mostly rain, rain. Inches of it. If it were snow we'd be in deep trouble, but right now only flooding in low-lying areas, streams and rivers are swollen, some roads closed, but many of the low roads near rivers were often closed around now anyway when snow melted and then froze. Normally we've had a week or two of sub-20 degree weather by now. I have not even fired up the big stove yet that I use for supplemental heat yet. Too warm. Yesterday and today are the first times I've scraped the windows and worn a warm jacket other than an unlined leather jacket. Not bragging ... we miss our winters! We're glad SOMEone is still having cold and snow, there's hope that it's not gone forever with global warming! Well, here in Dayton, Ohio area it's been the balmiest winter I can ever remember. There were other closings as well...very few folks were out on the streets per the incessant news reports. There were some wrecks VERY early in the morning that were covered over and over. After that, folks seemed to stay put. I know we did. "Ann (Jobe) Brown" <ann@personainternet.com> wrote: Thanks Malinda, Hope the power wasn't out for long. We are living in a new 28 ft. travel trailer adjacent to the place where we are having our new house built. Our living situation produces a lot of cabin fever but we are hoping that we will be able to go outside today and do some things that we want to do. I know one thing though, I will sell this trailer in a few months at a loss and be happy with my loss. I should have bought a motor home! At least that way I could drive south before times like these. Just kidding. you know that I will not leave my goats because this is their busiest time of the year - giving birth.
