American Prisoners of the Revolution: Names of 8000 Men The British used the ships at Wallabout Bay, later the site of the Brooklyn Navy Yard, for naval prisoners on this side of the Atlantic. The prisoners included men captured on American privateers, merchant ships, French, Spanish, and Dutch vessels. After April 1780, the Jersey was the receiving ship where names were entered into records. 2. Ann (Jobe) Brown
    3. Thanks to a lot of help to one of my mother's cousin, much more information has been added to this file and it has now been updated with 552 new entries (remember the one 3 days ago had 393 new entries) - twice within one week. By the way, we've discovered that some descendants of this family did intermarry with some of my mother's folks down in Texas - the Rabb family in Fayette Co., Texas. Barbaby's maiden name still remains unknown. She married Ephriam Leath after Caleb Job died in 1750. some of the Leath descendants also interrmaried with the McKay descendants - making double connections here and now some are now triple cousins to me since also related to my mother. http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/~ajobebrown11 Ann (Jobe) Brown

    3. A familiar story to our family--the paper spelled his name wrong, but Jesse Logan Jobe was my husband's great-grandfather. He has the pocket watch that Jesse was carrying when he was murdered. I t would be interesting to know just exactly why so many of our relatives went to Oklahoma, and when. I suspect it was about the time that free land opened up and people from Arkansas took advantage of it. One relative, Jesse Morgan Heffington (brother to your g.grandmother Dora) took his family there about the same time as his sister Josie Heffington Bittle and her family. A lady that has become very special to me and my family lives in Tahlequah, OK and is descended from Jesse Morgan. Also an excellent researcher. Another descendant of our Heffington clan had told me one time that the father of Dora and my Nancy and Jesse Morgan, had $20 in gold coin for each of his children. He had buried it and only told one child Jesse Morgan where it was buried, and ask him to distribute it after his death. Well he died, and within about a week, Jesse Morgan took his family and moved to OK, gold and all. But thru census records I have been able to disprove this little story. He remained in AR for several years after his dad's death. I seriously doubt that there ever was any gold, if there was no one ever received it as far as I know. Really wish people would not tell things like this. But as long as there are families, stories like this will circulate, I suppose. Hope you are feeling better fpd ________________________________________________________________________ AOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at AOL.com.

BIOGRAPHY OF AARON GREEN (husband of Hannah J. Logue). Submitted by Cathy Porter-Maynard (In Minnesota). Hello, Ann & Frieda... F.Y.I.: Attached is the biography of Aaron Green, whose first wife was Hannah Jane 'Anna' Logue. EXCERPT FROM BIOGRAPHY: ''On September 16, 1866, Mr. Green was wedded to Anna J. Logue, of Mason City, Ill., a daughter of Jonathan and Isabel (Lane) Logue.'' To reiterate, the biography of Aaron Green references the mother of Hannah Jane Logue as ''Isabel (Lane) Logue.'' This is important because, to my knowledge, this is the first *written reference* documenting Isabel Logue's maiden name [as] ''LANE''. The burial place of Isabel LANE Logue is unknown. Makes me wonder if Hannah Jane LOGUE Green could possibly be in the same cemetery?? Peace & blessings, Cathy <>< ===================================================== Hannah Jane 'Anna' Logue married Aaron Green. Parents of Hannah J. Logue were: Jonathan and Isabel (Lane) Logue ===================================================== . Excerpt from: ''HISTORICAL ENCYCLOPEDIA OF ILLINOIS & HISTORY OF MORGAN COUNTY,'' Munsell Publishing Company, Publishers, 1906. [Page 836] . BIOGRAPHY OF AARON GREEN GREEN, AARON, formerly an energetic and successful farmer of Cass and Mason Counties, Ill., now living in retirement in Jacksonville, Morgan County, Ill., was born in Derbyshire, England, April 15, 1832, the son of Joseph and Anna (Sewerby) Green, natives of Yorkshire, England. In that country Joseph Green owned and operated a large cotton manufactory. He came to the United States in 1847, and, after spending a year in Philadelphia, Pa., proceeded to Illinois, and bought a farm on the Sangamon Bottom, in Cass County. Both he and his wife died in that county-the former in 1850 and the latter in 1849. . Mr. Green received a good mental training in the boarding schools of England. In the fall of 1848, he came with his parents to Cass County, Ill., and after his father's death worked for a while on the homestead, after which he bought a farm, which he cultivated until 1858. In that year he located in California, where he remained about four years. On his return home in 1862 he enlisted in Company B, Eleventh Regiment Illinois Volunteer Cavalry, in which he served throughout the Civil War. He was one of the sturdy heroes who took part in the famous "Grierson Raid," and was engaged during a large portion of the war as a dispatch bearer for General Chetlain. On his return from California he had purchased 80 acres of land in Mason County, Ill., and after the war he resumed farming, pursuing this occupation successfully in Mason County until 1883. For a few years he also operated a farm in Kansas. . *On September 16, 1866, Mr. Green was wedded to Anna J. Logue, of Mason City, Ill., a daughter of Jonathan and Isabel (Lane) Logue. The following named children were the offspring of this union, namely: Charles B., born June 25, 1867; Edwin Joseph, born August 12, 1868; Asabel Anne, born November 28, 1869, died December 13, 1869; Effie Jane, born November 6, 1870; Grace Hannah, born January 6, 1873, died September 16, 1883; and Alice A., born August 24, 1875. The mother of this family died April 27, 1896. On September 8, 1897, in Kansas City, Mo., Mr. Green was united in marriage with Mrs. Bettie Walker, a daughter of Jesse and Anne (Scott) Winterbottom. The former Mrs. Walker was born in Oldham, England, January 24, 1839, and by her first husband she had six children, as follows: James H., who was born September 16, 1862, and died February 2, 1880; Anna Alice, born October 15, 1864, died October 24, 1867; Charlotte May, born May 2, 1867; Sarah Emma, born November 27, 1869; Jesse H., born June 27, 1880; and John Samuel, born January 1, 1883. Mrs. Green's father was a grocer and the father of six sons and three daughters. . In politics, Mr. Green casts his vote with the Republican party. Fraternally, he is a member of the Matt Starr Post, G.A.R. and Jacksonville Lodge, No. 570, A.F.& A.M. Religiously, he is connected with the Baptist Church. While living in Kansas he assisted in founding a church of that denomination at LaCygne, in that State, and served as President of the Board of Trustees. He is a man of high character, and his influence is always exerted in behalf of the right. . 3. Before we go any further on this I want a note in the archives that some of the information in the Goodspeeds article has been proven to be incorrect. The biggest thing I'm referering to is Milly's last name - which is NORRID (earlier spelled NORRED) - NOT WARD, as started in the article. In one part of my notes, I even have a notation that the name was sometimes even spelled NORD, so my 'guess' is that someone when preparing the articles for Goodspeed misread a capital N for a W and a small o for a small a. Although Milly's father was not named John as stated in the article, she did have a brother and a son named John. The H. D. who submitted the article to Goodspeeds was Hiram Dee 'Harmon' 'H. D.' Jobe. In our albums, we even have a scan of when the marriage record was entered. Milly was the d/o William Norred and Nancy Taylor. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/j_abraham.html#james_alfred Judi Raterman, Jack Helm and myself have done considerable research in the past 5 years on this family and we have several scanned documents, photos and memorial sposted at the above link. If you have scans of other documents, photos or cemetery photos to add to what is already posted - please send directly to me, Ann (Jobe) Brown at ann@personainternet.com and I'll get them posted. Also, when you go to Job(e) Legacy, You'll see some very detailed notes for this family http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=ajobebrown&id=I023067 If you can add to anything that is posted here, or have any corrections then please do let us know. Though we have discovered many answers, such as Milly's last name, this family does have many unanswered questions which we are still continuing to seek answers. On the 1880 census living in the Jobe household were several Bittle people listed as servants. Don't know if you are aware of this or not, but a sister of your great grandmother Dora married into this family. Also, am not certain who Josie is on the 1880 census, but thinking she was the daughter called Laura that was listed on 1870. A Josephine Jobe married a Brown man (think maybe his name was Robert) all in Faulkner county. Am thinking that this is this lady. Please let me know what you do not understand or do not agree with. The man in the Goodspeed records was an older brother of your great-granddad. Incidentally, did you know that my Dad was named for your great granddad? fpd Be interesting to know where James Jobe is buried. Be willing to wager that he is in Mt.
