Special thanks to: Lorelei Whitfill who has taken the Andrew Job Jr album and the 7 records album for his children - Jacob, Thomas, Enoch, Abraham, Caleb, Joshua and Patience. Patti Jobe who has taken the photo and memorial albums for ALL of the descendants of Elisha Jobe and his 3 wives. Elisha was s/o Enoch Job Jr of Cole Co., Missouri. Her site isn't good for records so these are still for Elisha and his descendants. *The albums which have been taken and SAVED for public view by Lorelei and Patti now have their name beside them. As they get these albums made, I'll change the link to go to them and fix the index page accordingly. Thank you both again. Ann (Jobe) Brown
Couple of more things: *remember (hopefully), in the future, I could be sending you things to add to the albums that you would be maintainig. Also, your albums could expand if more is received for your particuliar group. I have a large folder of things still yet to post. *Once you find out whether your photo site can actually take records and still enlarge to original size, and you agree to take actual albums (it can be just photos and memorials - if your site cannot handle records enlarged to actual size) - then I'll put your name beside the album link where it is now, so it doesn't get assigned again. Do not take a record album if your site will not allow enlargement to actual size. *for ones that don't get transferred to another site, maintained by someone else, then I'll just have to put Contact me or contact Freida (especially the Sarah Ann Jobe Copple group) personally since we do have all saved. Hopefully I can keep my indexes intact as much as possible. For this to work, we need a LOT OF HELP and co-operation. Ann
Before volunteering to take some albums and put on your site: ---Remember if you're going to take an album that involves records, then the site must allow the viewer to open to ORIGINAL SIZE, otherwise it is useless for records. This does not mean though that you can't take photos and/or memorial albums.. ---A password could be required, but you would have to be willing to let me post the password. To make it simple, if setting up new ones, just using jobe as the password would be easier. _for photo and memorials albums, not much space is required - but for ones involving records, it could get quite big, depending on how many you took. --Remember I need to know in advance which ones you'll take, let's avoid duplication at least for now, until they are all covered,. Ann (Jobe) Brown ann@personainternet.com
Lorelei, Could you send me a link, privately at ann@personainternet.com , to the site where you have your photos now. Would anyone be able to view it free? If a password is required to view, would I be able to post the password on the links page? Since you're not an Andrew Job Jr descendant yourself, I would be more inclined to give you the following albums: (so others, who do descend from Andrew Job Jr, can concentrate more on their own lineages) *This would involve 8 albums, mostly records, and would be ones that rarely get additions to. For others who do take albums, I could be sending you additions to add as they come in. A thorn in the side, but not the end. I do agree with Ann. Although I never maintained the pic website, I did post hundreds of documents and pics from everyones lines wether they were mine or not. I am currently looking at Snapfish, but not limiting my self yet. I urge all of you to post your pics and docs with caption to a website and let Ann know what the link is so we can continue to have the best Surname site. I've already got a premium account at fotki.com for photo storage. I'd be happy to set up space there and download/upload some of the Job/Jobe photos. But since these aren't my line of Jobes and I'm really not all that familiar with the other lines, if someone would just tell me which albums to work on so I don't duplicate anyone else's efforts, I'd really really appreciate it. Lorelei -----Original Message----- Subject: [JOB] Job(e) Albums - Some bad news (please read) ------ *Please let me know IMMEDIATELY if you're willing to download any one, or one family albums and upload to a site that you can find. There are several sites out there that these can be posted to. I need the link if you are and the name of the albums that you intend to save. Just one thing that I ask is for me to link to it on the Jobe site - the site must be freely viewed by all without an invitation required. Thanks for understanding. Since I posted the message to the list, about 11 days ago, about imagestation closing and that we will be losing our Job(e) albums as of February 1, 2008, the replies to me has been almost non-existent. I've only heard from 3-4 who I know are in the process of saving images and thinking of a site to post 'part of the albums' 'their branch from a particular person - either photos, memorials, records or all'. I know that there are many who have contributed to the albums and look at the site who are not subscribes to the list. We need to get the word out to them - NOW. If you know of Job(e) descendants, especially those who are involved in genealogy, and are not on either the Job or Jobe list and have contributed to the albums - PLEASE GET THE MESSAGE TO THEM IMMEDIATELY. (by belonging to the list - you've already received a 2 week notice that many who just see the site didn't receive) Saving the images for even just a few albums is IMPORTANT. Don't think you'll be able to go in the last couple of weeks in January and start saving and get everything you want. It takes a lot of time - there are many. You don't have to take all of Caleb, or all of one of Caleb's children. But if you go to one of the children of Andrew Job Jr's site and could take someone from a short green line down - it would be greatly appreciated. These are just examples, and some of these, especially the ones below as there is still a lot - might even need to be divided into their children which takes us to where the 5 starts are. in my own group - this would be -------Eli B. Jobe and Prudence (working on next) ----------or Jesse Jobe and Susan Ann McIntire (I almost have completed) in Randy's group - this would be ------Amon Jobe and Rhoda Arteburn ----------or Samuel E. Jobe in Patti's group - this would be ------Logan Jobe and Mary Saling -----------or Abraham S. Jobe and Susan Yeager in Freida's group - this would be -----Edward Jobe and Isabelle Fincher -----------or Sarah Jobe and John Copple I've now posted a notice on the main links page http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/jobe.html and on each of Andrew Jr's pages - Jacob Job - Thomas Vernon Job - Enoch Job - Abraham Job - Caleb Job - Joshua Job 2 sites of Enoch Job Sr. and Moses Job - Patience (Job) MacKay *For now I've taken on my Isaac Job of Oregon Co., Missouri. Just this week alone, I've made several new pages (below) and expanded several others. Besides these, I made several for my Mears group. ---I now have a link and new section from my main site for my great grandparents Caleb Jobe and Martha Emily Brewer http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/jobe/gtgrandpacale.html new site Cynthia Edna (Jobe) Cook http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/jobe/cynthia_edna_cook.html John Shelburn Jobe http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/jobe/john_shelburn_jobe.html Ina Beatrice (Jobe) Standlee http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/jobe/ina_stanldee.html My grandparents TWO sites now expanded http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/jobe/grandpajesse.html http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/mears/minnie1.html New pages are now being made for my father and his siblings. This week I hope to finish my father and the rest of his siblings. Next on my list is the children of Eli B. Jobe and Prudence and the rest of Oregon Co., MO group. ----- ATTENTION JOB(E) BRANCHES - descendants of Thomas Job of Guilford Co., Nc *By the way, here is your chance to start your own albums, or pages similar to what I have above and send me links and I'll get them posted to the Job(e) sites. I am forwarding this letter for Donna (Cox) Briggs. -------- I've been contacted by an attorney to try to locate relatives of those buried in a small family cemetery in Sullivan County, Tennessee. The cemetery has been known for years as the Hargis Cemetery, and only has one tombstone with an inscription, "Richardson Jobe aged 84 years". There are five or 6 other graves there, marked only by plain fieldstones. I've been researching the families in this area for years and have not found the names of anyone else buried there. We have been unable to determine if Richardson has any descendants, as his only daughter was unmarried in the 1920 census and cannot be located after that. At this point, collateral line descendants are the only known relatives. The city of Kingsport has bought the property and the cemetery is in the midst of the development. They will be moving the cemetery to another location. Only descendants of Richardson's siblings would be counted as relatives. If you are in this group, contact me with your name, address, telephone number and an email address. You may email me at dcoxbriggs@charter.net We only have a short time to respond, so if you qualify, please don't delay. Just updated Job(e) Legacy with 299 new entries in the last 6 weeks. http://wc.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown Ann (Jobe) Brown ann@personainternet.com
Was just talking to Randy and one thing that I will be doing, as I get time, is adding some of the very old photos (for now the ones of anyone born before 1875) that we do have to the sites that I now have up for Andrew Job Jr's children. Know of two right now, for example, ---Amon Jobe (1824-1906) and Jonathan M. Barron (1841-1929) *these old photos will be placed UNDER THEIR NAME on Caleb's site at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/j_caleb.html *the same goes for the other children of Andrew Job Jr. It will be similar to my other surname sites without the dates and details, since these can be gotten from the gedcoms on World Connect. It will take time though and will be my winter project after I expand my own Oregon Co., Missouri group. Please think about starting your own albums/sites/ for your group and letting me know the link so I can link to it on the proper page. One other thing, I just checked the albums on imagestation and already many of the actual images are not coming up. Hopefully this is temporary. But if you're willing to START A PUBLIC FREE SITE that anyone can get to and need the items from a particular album, let me know personally and I'll send them to you through Pando, which can be downloaded free of charge for large files. Ann (Jobe) Brown
Everyone please read: (if you reply to this - PLEASE delete this letter first or start a new one - as this one is a bit long) Freida and I was just notified in the last couple of days that Imagestation, where our many many albums (records, photos and memorials), are posted is CLOSING. WE must thank Freida , who for the past 2 years has paid to keep these albums available for us, with full download options for the original image. It is not a matter of money - the site is Closing. Though they are offering to transfer the albums to Shutterfly, after looking into their policies and what we need, this is really not an option for us. Will be more announcements later on with what I intend to do with the Jobe site. As it stands now, there will definitely be some major changes over the winter months and no matter what is done, I have a LOT OF WORK cut out for me. In 4 1/2 months - many of the links now there will not work. ------- Dates to remember: Tuesday - September 4, 2007 - Monday - November 12, 2007 full ImageStation site functionality remains in place. You will be able to utilize normal account features and order all available products. Monday - November 12, 2007 at midnight PST you will no longer be able to purchase prints or gifts and many site functions will be disabled. Will still be able to access the account and images. You will not be able to join, upload new images, order prints or gifts, share your albums or edit your projects. Friday - February 1, 2008 at midnight PST the ImageStation servers will be powered down. All remaining images and member's personal data will be erased from the servers. No copies will be kept. ---------- *I want to encourage EVERYONE to please go to the albums which concern their families and DOWNLOAD the original size of every photo, record, memorial, that you're especially interested in to YOUR OWN COMPUTER as soon as possible. I would also ask for any who are willing to remake any of the albums on their own site to please do so and send me the link so I can link to it. *Freida and I do have everything saved. However, even if a site was found, to transfer everything over to a new one, just the two of us, or even if there were 5-6 of us doing it, would just be impossible and too time consuming. These records were also saved 2 years ago and are in the hands of 10 different Jobe cousins so that are being preserved - at least as of that time. I do have a folder on my desktop and know which albums have been changed or added to since then. -----(One possibility, that I'm mulling over, is leaving the index pages up and for those albums which will soon disappear entirely if not saved and posted by ONE OF YOU to another site and the link sent to me) . Though the index pages will not go to any albums that you'll be able to view as you can now - researchers will know what we do have available and would be able to write us to e-mail a particular photo or record that they especially wanted. ------ *Please let me know IMMEDIATELY if you're willing to download any one, or one family albums and upload to a site that you can find. There are several sites out there that these can be posted to. I need the link if you are and the name of the albums that you intend to save. Just one thing that I ask is for me to link to it on the Jobe site - the site must be freely viewed by all without an invitation required. *As for my own immediate group, I will be expanding my Jobe families (at least for my Isaac Job of Oregon Co. MO) downward and moving many of the photos, memorials, (at least the ones of my father's siblings and my grandpa Jesse's brother) over to one of my surname sites on Rootsweb (much like my Mears/Davis/Vinson sites). Eventually I hope to include this to the Samuel Job - Dorcas MacKay group. *Remember the Tribute pages that are made, the Memory Lane pages (Christmas Letters, Marriages, Heirloom) sites will be remaining and continued to be added to. Also the gedcoms on World Connect will continue to be updated. Thanks for understanding. Ann (Jobe) Brown ann@personainternet.com
Rod, I'm forwarding your letter on to the Job and Jobe Rootsweb Mailing list. Very nice work. Just as small point about Robert McCormick b.19 JUN 1804. It is a common mistake to have him born in PA, but his father's pension application has him born in Ohio. Virginia McCormick, the wife of one of my distant cousin's wife, transcribed John McCormick's (Robert's dad) and I posted it at http://mccormickresearch.com/Ancestry/john_mccormick_rev_war.htm Info on where he lived and when is on pages 2 and 3. I sent off to Quincy Illinois probate court for the documents relating to Samuel Job's probate and found it funny that the justice of the peace who signed my great great grandpa's marriage certificate was the same one who Signed Robert McCormick's pleading to the probate judge for a bigger share of the estate: http://www.mccormickresearch.com/Ancestry/RobtMcCormickClaim1849.JPG I have other pages that indicate that the judge turned Robert down because of the years that Samuel let him live on the farm without rent more than compensated for the improvements Robert made. Go figure. I have been working on tracking down all the descendants of Robert McCormick & Elizabeth Job and hope to do some updating on what I have so far, especially the Civil War records of his sons. Thanks again for your thorough research Rod McCormick

As everyone can see, since this went ACCIDENTALLY to the Job list, we have at least a few gardeners amongst the Jobe cousins on our list - Stan and Randy. Yesterday Randy, who most of us know or have least heard of, was canning tomatoes when a quart jar broke and part of his chest and a a good part of his right arm was burned (scalded). Several of us were writing back and forth between each other. For anyone who would like to write Randy (OFF-LIST) his address is rjobe@bellsouth.net Ann (Jobe) Brown Job List Manager
