    1. [JOB] LDS Film#568060 - Brick Meeting House and Andrew 'The Hermit' Job
    2. Ann (Jobe) Brown
    3. As some of you know, one of our Job(e) cousins, Eleanor Orthun, as she gets an opportunity, has been reading and transcribing parts of old films. One of her latest has been LDS Film #568060 which is primarily about cemeteries and Chester Co., PA church records. She has transcribed a few paragraphs on various pages which mentioned the Brick Meeting House and Andrew 'The Hermit' Job. (For any who might now know, this Andrew was born Oct 15, 1771 and died January 4, 1863. He is believed to be buried at the Brick Meeting House. This Andrew was the son of Daniel Job and Mary Brown who married October 26, 1758 at the Nottingham Monthly Meeting at the Brick Meeting House. Daniel was the son of Thomas Vernon Job and grandson of Andrew Job Jr. Rather than try to deal with this 'plain text' that we're forced to use with the lists, I've made a seperate page for these transcriptions. The link does appear on the main links page and it appears right under the Job(e) Legacy icon and before the Researchers link for Andrew Job(e) Jr. *By the way, Eleanor, we really appreciate and know how difficult it can be trying to read old micorfilm and handwriting and especially one that seems to jump around like this one does. This is something that many of you will enjoy reading - even if you don't descend from Andrew Job Jr. Many times I have seen various quotes about some of the things mentioned here, but, until now, I had always wondered what was the 'original source'. I do want to stress that Eleanor is still researching the film (as she is able) and updates may be forthcoming. She has, however, given me permission to post her discoveries so far. For those wanting to go directly to this page, it can be found by clicking on the link below: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/jobe/nttg_min.html *I would also like to say that she has also found on another film, of old tavern licenses of Chester Co., PA, one for Thomas Vernon Job and the Blue Ball Tavern. For this one, she has sent me a scanned copy as well as a transcription. This will be eventually going into the Thomas Vernon Job (s/o Andrew Job Jr) records album. Ann (Jobe) Brown

    2. Ann (Jobe) Brown
    3. The 1910 state page for North Carolina has now been updated. It did have 1 family and now has 27 families. Can anyone tell me who the Robert H. Jobe, age 29, is in Alamance Co. NC. I'm quite certain that he descends from the Jonathan Job - Esther Witt family as he is surrounded by descendants of this couple. Most of these are for Job(e) Branches but did notice one other. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/jobe/nc/1910_19.html *The Isaac Jobe in Yancy Co., NC is Isaac Tipton 'Ike T. ' Jobe - s/o Joseph Tipton Jobe and Emmeline R. Jobe. Ann (Jobe) Brown

    3. Amen and thanks so much, Ann. You're amazing!!! Patti Jobe Wife of Robert Jobe 12 (Preston 11, Oma 10, Jesse 9, Abraham 8, Logan 7, Elisha 6, Enoch Jr. 5, Enoch 4, Joshua 3, Andrew Jr. 2, Andrew 1) Just want to say that I'm very proud to be the new list owner of this list. As everyone knows the research of the Job and Job(e) family has been my life's work - over 35 years now devoted to it. However, this isn't something that I really wanted and I'm quick to say that no one will miss Freida more than I will. More than that, she became a friend to us ALL! Right now, I'm feeling pretty 'low'. When Freida wrote me on the 26th and asked me to take the list, my birthday by the way, it was a real shock, but a request that I couldn't say no to. But it sure wasn't a birthday present that I was hoping for. In fact I've just been in shock for the past week and really haven't felt like working on the family at all. Sure hope something breaks soon - to start the 'thrill' of research and posting of data once again. I do have lots to put in the various albums. But as I've learned from years of research, it is the 'sharing' and 'friendships' that develop along the way that become important. Finding data, and then not having that great friend to share it with - well it is just not the same! You find this big clue, solve the mystery that you've looked to solve for 20 or more years, and you just want to shout to the world - to someone who shares your zeal and excitement. Well hopefully at least some of you know what I mean. This is a very informal list filled with friends who care about each other. We are all striving to learn as much as we can about the Job and Jobe surname and to link as many families together as possible and most of all to make these ancestors of ours become much more than names. This is what Freida did with the albums and which I'll try to continue. Sometimes it isn't just the time that a person needs (as I do have quite a bit of it) - but the emotional support and encouragement that I get from you. Meanwhile, please feel free to post your Job(e) lines. When checking the list tools, I did notice some e-mail addresses that I didn't recognize - so there must be some 'lurkers' out there. I do feel that we have one of the best surname websites that are out there and it is through us all working together that the site has grown so much. Hopefully, it will continue to grow - but remember I'm only one person. I need your old pictures, scans of yours records, etc. I was taught early in my research to share freely and that is what I've always done. Believe most of you know my Job(e) line, but in case you don't it is: me, Earl Frederick Jobe (1919-1981), Jesse William Jobe, Caleb Jobe, Jesse Jobe, Eli B. Job(e), Isaac Job(e), Samuel Job and Dorcas MacKay/McKay, Caleb Job and Barbary ?, Andrew Job Jr and Elizabeth Vernon. I lived most of my live in Texas before coming to Ontario, Canada in 1972. My own Jobe line went from Oregon Co., MO/Lawrence Co., AR to the Collin Co., TX area in the 1870's and then in the 1880's to Foard/Wilbarger Co., Texas. During your holdiay visitng, please keep an eye out for the old pictures, letters, etc that could bring these Job(e) cousins and ancestors of ours to life. They are much more than names - each had their own struggles, their own joys, ambitions, saddness and happiness. Though life as we know it as changed through the years, I've discovered that people and families, in general, change very little. And in each of us is a little bit of them which has passed down. Let's try to stay a team and work together. Ann (Jobe) Brown [email protected]

    1. [JOB] 1900 North Carolina State page updated
    2. Ann (Jobe) Brown
    3. I just updated the NC 1900 Census page for all spellings. There was 1 family there incomplete. There are now 23 families. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/jobe/nc/1900_09.html Except for a couple of families, these all go with Job(e) Branches. The one exception is Dr. Abraham Job who married Sophronia Poteet who is listed in Mitchell co. NC. Also, I can't identify the 2 that are in Hertford Co., NC. One is listed as Jobe and one as Jobes though they are in the same township. I also found where ancestry had indexed two families that are Jobe as Jabe (with an a instead of an o) Ann (Jobe) Brown

    1. [JOB] James Job(e) - Ann Crosbie family of Guilford and Randolph Co., NC
    2. Ann (Jobe) Brown
    3. If anyone is researching James Job(e) - Ann Crosby who married Aug 22, 1797 Guilford Co., NC and want a report for this family before the update, please write me at [email protected] The widow, Ann, is on the 1870 Randolph Co., NC census with her daughter Jane (Job) ALLRED I also have a lot of new information on the two daughters: Elizabeth A. 'Eliza' (Job) who married Harper 'Ira' FIELDS and Nancy R. (Job) who married Sidney GARDNER. *James Job was the s/o John Job Sr. and Elizabeth Ruggle who married March 10, 1777. Ann Crosbie was the d/o Hance Crosbie and Ann McDill. *As you can see there are several corrections to this family, plus quite a few additions. I will have this information in the next update of Job(e) Branches. Ann (Jobe) Brown
