Sherman, be sure and let us know if the author tells anything about his family history. :o) Patti Jobe Margaret, I was able to get a copy. I started with abebooks.com and located a place in Boone, Tennessee (right now cannot find the address). I got their last copy. I have just started reading and it is an incredible story of what one person contributed toward the freedom we each are able to enjoy. Many people paid a lot and he did and lived to write about it!! Hope you can find a copy. Sherman
Margaret, based on the printing date there are two different titles: "Arctic Snow to Dust of Normandy" and "From Arctic Snow to Dust of Normandy." His last name has only one "L" (Patrick Dalzel-Job). Try searches for both titles with abebooks.com. Sherman

nope--when this man died, it got lots of attention in the press--he was a very well known (in the UK, that is) war hero who shunned publicity. I would like to read his book even if he wasn't named Job. :o) Patti I just did a search...given the subject matter, it's possible the book is being suppressed ~malinda http://www.alltheweb.com/search?cat=web&q=%22Patrick+Dalzell-Job%22+

Just heard from the listowners list that the AOL problem (at least at the server level) seems to have been resolved. However, please check your own spam level settings and make sure you have yours set to accept the list postings. Thanks to all for their help in this matter. Ann

In case anyone is wondering how this fits in with the Job family. Benton and Stephen Douthitt were sons of Joseph D. Douthitt and Siner Alphonsine Clemmons amd grandsons of William 'Bill' 'Billy' Douthitt and Sarah JOB and gt grandsons of Thomas Job of Rowan Co., NC. Jincy M. Douthitt would be Jane Moore 'Jincy' Eakels/Eccles - wife of Stephen Douthitt. *As for Abraham Douthitt born 1762, he is the brother of William Douthitt (b. 1746) who married Sarah Job. Also Abraham's wife, Mary Catherine Starr is a sister to John Starr, the husband of Rachel Katherine JOB, d/o Samuel Job, Sr. and Rachel Little. *By the way, this same Douthitt family had descendants who also married into descendants of Andrew Job Jr and lived in Arkansas so this family is connected to both families in Legacy and Branches. Also the Jarvis and Alburty familiy, listed below had seveal intermarriages with the Job(e) descendants. If I missed anyone who wanted the tombstone picture, please write again. I did get 8-9 requests and sent those out immediately. Thanks to everyone for sharing and working together with this group. Ann (Jobe) Brown > > > Name: Alpha L. LOL--not anymore, but I remember doing it, Stan! Our 70's weather is coming to a end tonight, with a cold spell (more normal temps!) coming in. You enjoy that warmth in Texas, ya hear? Happy New Year to all of your family. Patti Jobe Happy New Year Ann and Freida and all other cousins. I hope that you will all be happy, healthy and safe this coming year. Ann, my wife is working on all of her families and mine also and we have found that the Job(e) web site demonstrates the highest quality of any of the family sites which we visit. Here in Texas, (Shiro) I am running airconditioners and having to bathe every day because it is so hot. The old #3 wash tub has yet to be put away for the winter. (I'll bet that there are not too many folks who will admit bathing in a wash tub.) Next week I will purchase my seed potatoes for planting - the garden soil is plowed and ready. Stan Jobe
Thanks, Freida and Ann! And the same to you and your families--and to all the Jobe relatives out there! Sounds like some great finds for you this year--very satisfying, I'm sure. :o) I've had computer troubles for several weeks and just now settling down--hoping for no problems for a long time to come. Resolution for the New Year--get more organized!!!!!!!! grin God bless, The Jobe Family in Oklahoma Robert, Patti, Will and Matthew Happy New Year to all! I want to wish everyone out there a most joyous New Year and hope this coming year is the best every! My greatest find in 2003 was to finally find the family information for my 2nd great grandfather Edward J. Jobe's sister Margaret Watts Jobe. For many years we wondered who this was that was listed in the Probate Record of Abraham s/o James M. Jobe and Margaret Stone. Well this year it came to life and now I have a full family sheet for the family. Recently I received as you now the obit for her husband Jacob Maugans and am tryng to find the complete death date so I can obtain hers. This year has been one of the best for me in ALL families I am working on, found many new cousins, made a trip to Iowa on my husband's LANE family, he got to meet a new cousin I have corresponded with for well over two years and we spent four days working at courthouses, city halls and cemeteries. This is has been a GREAT year for me genealogy wise. For those of you who have located information on any of the JOB/ JOBE lines I work on especailly the JOB/ LOGUE I truely thank you for your help and sharing. I look forward to new finds in genealogy and friends in the coming year. God Bless All of You! Leon & Freida Wells [email protected]
