    1. One World Tree - explanation
    2. Ann (Jobe) Brown
    3. I don't want to start a 'big conversation' on this - but I have had a few inquiries - wondering what I was going to do as I do have several very large files on World Connect - including Job(e) Legacy, Job(e) Branches, 3 Job(e) Twigs, and three or 4 small Jobes files. I've been keeping a very close watch on all of this as I get a copy of every letter that is posted to the http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=topics.rw.worldconnect&maxrows=25&dir=next World Connection Suggestion board Right now, I have NO plans to move or delete Job(e) Legacy or any of my other files from World Connect. I do understand that the World Connect Files (as they are now) will remain FREE to view by anyone. Also they will be indexed nightly, as they are done now, so my updates will still show right away and I'll still be free to update when I want. All of my files are uploaded through Roots Web and NOT Ancestry (with NO gedcom download) - though they are SEEN ON BOTH data bases and are FREE on both data bases. Just on the ancestry site, it is a bit harder (at least to me) to find where they can be seen free - but it is there. However, I actually get more mail from ones who have seen the file through ancestry than through World Connect. ALL of my links point to the World Connect File - which to me has the far-better advanced search and reports that you can make from the file. Plus the back-up feature, which I have had to use, is wonderful. The One World Tree is something that someone can subscribe to and there is a possiblity that my file (or as I'm sure at least parts of it for sure as we all know parts of can be seen in several people's files) in it. However, there is NO NEED for anyone who is working just on the Jobe family alone to subscribe to this One World Tree which is actually a 'Searching and Matching' service. My files are well-referenced with notes, census records, etc. Plus with the state pages and albums of actual records/pictures/etc that we have - well you can see what I mean. The new one world tree is basically a new search engine (with a charge) that will link names with census records, SSDI, vital records, military, court, land and other records that also appear on ancestry. And as we know - this will be beneficial for some (especially those with limited time, want a quick history of just a few people, - it is like 'paying a researcher' to do the work for you) and for others will be just problems (as I'm sure some of the links will point to the wrong people as names varied from census to census, spelling variations, and other concerns). Part of the reason for this is that some have 'complained' about the MANY duplications which appear on Rootsweb and the Ancestry World Tree. They don't have the 'time' or 'desire' to search each and every one of these trees and want to take a 'shortcut'. ****WE (the Jobe researchers) have already DONE THE WORK that this 'new computer search or One World Tree' is going to do (or try to do) automatically - linking you from a specific family member to his/her census record, marriage record, draft card, etc - IF you subscribe to this new service. From what I understand, the new One World Tree will also have a link to the files on Rootsweb or Ancestry World Tree - which will still be viewed free. To read some official reponses, see the ones by Randy Winch. He maintains the Rootsweb world Connect files. http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=message&r=rw&p=topics.rw.worldconnect&m=3286.2.1.2.1.1.1.1.1.1.3.1.1.2 http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=message&r=rw&p=topics.rw.worldconnect&m=3297.1.1.1.1.1.1.2 Ann (Jobe) Brown Webmaster for the Job, Jobe, Jobs, Jobes Website Manager of the Job list Manager of the Rootsweb Job and Jobe Surname Board

    2. Hello Everyone, I thought you all might want to take a look at the General Store Ledger of David Deaderick 1815-1820 in Greenville, Greene Co. TN, just posted by James Slone here: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jimslone/ledger/index.htm I didn't see any Jobe's or any of my Cocke Co. or Greene Co. names, but there might be something of interest to Jobe researchers that I don't recognize.. FYI, apparently in the hands of a Fine descendant is a ledger of a similar store of Peter Fine in Cocke Co in the late 1700s, which I assume is similar. Best Regards, Janet Hunter

    3. Teresa, I saw your letter on the Jobe Rootsweb message board. I manage both the Jobe and the Job board and the Job list, plus the huge Job(e) website. Though your letter would have also went to the Jobe list, I'm posting it on the Job list, where there are more subscribers. I'm very interested in your Sarah Minnie Jobe. My address is [email protected] Do you know for sure that your Sarah Minnie Jobe was born Feburary 1885 in Monroe Co., KY and was in Fannin Co., Texas by 1900 census? Do you know for sure that she did have a brother named John? James W. Jobe was the s/o Amon Jobe and Rhoda 'Rody' Arterburn. Nancy Matilda COPASS was also a Job(e) descendant herself - being the d/o Ira Greenbury Copass and Jane Waller, gd/o William M. Copass and Rhoda Jackson and gt gd/o John Copass and Nancy Jobe. I've never seen the name spelled as Copeland -though have seen Copass, Copas and Copus. Would love to have the information for the file on Sarah and John. Please write me at the address above. Would also love to have you join the JOB list. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/jobe.html Ann (Jobe) Brown > > Board : Boards > Surnames > Jobe > Subject : James W. JOBE and Nancy (nee COPASS) JOBE's daughter Sarah M. JOBE b. Feb 1885. I have death certificate on my ggrandmother Sarah Minnie JOBE, and it lists her mother as Matilda COPELAND with the information being given by Sarah's daughter at the time of death. I believe I've located Sarah and her family in the 1900 Fannin Co., TX census, which would be the only census she would be shown with her family (born too late for 1880, and married before next census in 1910). Marriage license shows she married my ggrandfather James Vestal Hughes in July 30, 1905 in Greenville, Hunt Co., TX. I have no copy of marriage license, only date & location info from a look-up, so I don't know if parent's names were listed. Does anyone know if the COPELAND name on her death certificate my actually be COPASS? Dates and locations would all match up great if so. I have much more information on Sarah Minnie JOBE HUGHES if anyone is interested. I also have a bit (I believe) on her brother John JOBE. Feel free to email me at [email protected] .

They will place in their library Their next issue is August. Be sure and tell them you would like it placed in their upcoming Journal. 3. from the Jobe legacy: 1682 Dec 24, the ship, "Welcome", arrived first in New Castle then Upland. It carried William Penn and a considerable number of Quakers. It can be assumed that Andrew Job and his brothers were there to greet them. In January Upland was renamed Chester in honor of the many settlers from Cheshire. 1683 (MD's Boundary Line) Lord Baltimore claimed the most navigable part of the Delaware River for MD. William Penn asked his personal friend, Andrew Job, to help arbitrate, and, with much pomp ceremony, they met with Baltimore in May of 1683 in New Castle. PA claimed his charter from Charles II gave him the right to the lower counties, but Baltimore claimed his charter from Charles I, which predated Penn's by 30 years, stated, "into that part of Delaware Bay on the north, which lies under the 40th degree of northern latitude." Finally Penn and his party prevailed, and a writer of the time penned, "William Penn and Andrew JOB being educated men, and being of such unusual persuasive and executive ability, convinced all concerned of the correctness of the boundary line." Patti Jobe Ahh.....thank you kindly. I think I'm going to embroider this one on a sampler. One more question if I might.
