Now I have found something very interesting in my search for more information on Elizabeth Jobe Francis. There is a website where you can post the migration of your family. Here is the website: http://www.migrations.org/migentry.php3 I searched for the surname FRANCIS and found several, but none relating to the family I am working on. I typed in JOB and see that Ann already has seen this site, as her Caleb is listed there. Ann you might want to contact them and change your email address. There is also a William JOBES 1828- submitted by Belinda Joy. He was born in IN and migrated to Springfield, OH in abt 1855. Freida
Been doing a little research and have found a book online about the fort and the migration of the people in 1850. There were 50,000 who passed thru there, Elizabeth Jobe Francis probably one of them. Chapter VII covers the 1850 time frame, but it is all interesting to read. http://www.nps.gov/fola/history/contents.htm I have even found on this same site a map showing the CA trail that Henry and elizabeth would have been on when he died. http://www.nps.gov/fola/history/images/map2.jpg This is a map showing the ruins that were still there in 1937. Some where there in 1850. http://www.nps.gov/fola/history/images/map3.jpg Freida
Hello all, I wanted to write and share a story with you that I received todayregarding Elizabeth Jobe sister to my gr grandmother Sarah Ann Jobe. Elizabeth was the d/o Edward Jobe and Isabelle Fincher, gd/o James Jobe and Margaret Stone and gr gd/o Enoch Job and Lucretia? For a long time now Ann and I had been trying to figure out what had happened to the first husband of Elizabeth, Henry Francis. They were married August 17, 1848 in Cole co., Missouri, I have a copy of their marriage record and it is online in her album. Then on the 1850 census she is living with her parents with her small son. Henry Francis is NO where to be found. Well today it all came clear as to what happened to Henry. I received this story from and Francis descendant and researcher. I wanted to share with you. We are hoping that the journal will turn up somewhere and that I can also get a copy of it. I will keep you posted of any new developments. It would be exciting to have such a journal to share with you and to place in the Memory Lane section of our notes online. Freida Henry Francis was born 1822/1832 (both dates shownon records. He was one of 11 children belonging to Pearl and Harriet Taylor Francis of Lincoln County, Kentucky. I have the name of the other children, but will wait and provide that information later. Henry and his father, Pearl, joined a wagon-train in Independence, Missouri on April 11, 1850. They were enroute to California to meet two of Henry's brothers (Lunsford and William J.) Henry and Pearl both died enroute. I have the month and date of death of Henry (June, 1850). Pearl died June 21, 1850. They are buried together in or near Fort Laramie, Wyoming. The wagon-train arrived in California in October, 1850 and I have been told there was a journal of the trip.

For the past week, all lists which are on lists 2 which does include the Job surname, has been held in limbo and are just starting to creep through. We were told that no mail would be lost but there could be a backlog of delayed letters coming through over the weekend on some of the lists. Know I sent 2 or 3 during this time before discovery of the problem. So you might want to check password central in a day or two if you don't get mail from a list that you believe that you're subscribed to -just to make sure that you didn't get bounced off.
