they just said that it was undergoing renovations and that ALL records and historical paintings, etc had been removed--thank God for that! A terrible shame about the building, tho. Patti Jobe Hello all, I just saw on Fox news that a devastating fire is burming in Prince George Co., Maryland. It is the courthouse and it is a complete loss it appears on tv. It started on the roof in the old section that was being renovated. It was a huge building and it is sad to see that so many records have been lost not to mention the 100's of people that are now without a job. The county was organized on 20 May 1695 from Charles County. In my Handbook for Genealogists it does not say how far back the records start, but if it is like Cecil County where our ancestor Andrew Job. Jr. lived it will be in the 1770's. Just thought I would pass this along to all of you in case you had not seen it. >From a WET Kansas! AOL EmailJudi, Not yours, but you just solved a big mystery for me! Good work! I am sending this to the list also, as I want eveyone to know how one small piece of information which I might not have can lead to so much when put together with what I already know. So PLEASE, if you're not absolutely sure, that I already have the information - forward it my way! Notice that this Hiram Jobe is age 90 when he died in 1905 (making him born in the vicinity of 1815) and a Lee England ordered the burial. Well I have very few Hiriam Jobe in my files - rather unusual. So I checked World connect for a Hiriam Jobe born 1810-1820 - as I have all my Jobe files there so knew that there was a good chance that he would show up in at least one of my Jobe files. *Well the only one that showed up even close was Hiriam Jobe born August 1816 Sullivan Co., TN married to Mary Ann 'Polly' Howard. I didn't have a death date for him - only that he died after 1900 census when he was living (on an index that I have) of 1900 Saline Co., MO with a Thomas Biggs family and listed as father-in-law. For some reason I had never checked to see what the daughter's name was that he was with - just had index. So I went to LDS records and looked for Lee England and there were 2. I clicked on the first one born 1866 Missouri and he showed up as a child, age 14 of a John England and a Jane ? and in Blackwater, Saline Co., MO. Bingo, this is where Hiriam lived at this time. So figured Lee must be the grandson of HIriam in 1905 who ordered the burial. At that time, Lee England would have been 41. Plus his mother was Jane and Hiriam did have a daughter, Jane, the right age but I had no husband for her. Well even though I was pretty sure I had the right guy, I decided to check the neighbors and guess who was living next door - good old Thomas H. Biggs married to Katie R. B. (Jobe) - the daughter that Hiriam would be listed with 20 years later!. So thanks to you sending this one little tidbit, I now know when Hiriam Jobe died, where he is died and who two of his daughters married and where they were in 1880 census and several of their children. http://my.execpc.com/~mikeber/calendar.html This was sent to me and thought some of you might be interested in it. I have a program that I can do the same thing with. If you need to know the day that some one was born or died such as Monday Tuesday, etc. this will tell you when you enter the birth and or death date. I also have a calander to help you calcuate the date a person was born by using their death date and their age at time of death, it also helps. http://www.obitcentral.com/calc.htm Freida

* NEWS ARTICLE: Murphys Law "Hoosier Times" Newspaper - Bloomington, IN - 10 Oct 2004 "Murphy's Laws Hold True for Family Research" By: Mona Robinson The following 12 Murphy's Laws of genealogical research came from an old Greene family newsletter, via genealogist Don Matson. They're so true that they may not seem all that funny. 1. The family you are looking for will be on the last page of the unindexed (of course) census film you check. but if you begin at the end of the roll, they will be on page 1. 2. The microfilm that you have diligently searched page-by-page will have an index at the end. 3. All of your spouse's ancestors will be mentioned in county histories. None of yours will be. 4. If you need just one record, the microfilm will have page numbers. If you need three or more records, there won't be any page numbers and the record will not be in proper order. 5. The book you need most will be out being rebound. 6. You will need item 23 on a microfilm roll that has 22 items. The rest of the film is continued on another roll that is "missing and presumed lost." 7. Just before the entry you need, the records will end. They will begin again two years after the date you need. 8. If one brother is left out of the genealogy of the family, guess whose ancestor he will be? 9. If there is a family history on one branch of the family tree, it won't be yours. 10. When you finally find the microfilmed probate records, the book will be so tightly bound that you can only make out the first two letters of the name of the person who may be your ancestor. 11. The researcher you hire to read original records will inform you that only that particular probate packet is missing. 12. During the last hour of your trip to the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, you will find everything you've hunted for all week, but you won't have time to copy it. To Forget One's Ancestors is to Be a Brook Without a Source, a Tree With Out a Root,
Greetings, Two new images have been added to the album of Joseph and Catherine Jobe. This is for their son James W. Jobe who served in the Spanish-American War and also in the Mexican National Guard for the state of Missouri. The two pages were found in a book online thru my Kansas Library Card that I obtained this past week free at my local library. If you have a library in your town you can also obtain a FREE state library card, it will give you access to Heritage Quest census, online books and much more. Thre is no cost for the access either. http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4291370553 # 12 Missouri National Guard. Mexican Boarder Service 1916. # 13 Mess. Sgt James W. Jobe, Co. I have been searching for census to add to the album of William S. Jobe and have added the following: 1880, 1900, 1910 and 1920 http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4291559745 At the time I added these, his son William H. Jobe was listed in the same album, that has been changed. Ann has created a new album for William H. and you can view it here: http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=3421345093 Some new census records have also been added for him, thus the reason for dividing the albums. I have also added some census for Charles E. Jobe another son of William S. Jobe and they can be found in his own album, you can view all of them here: http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4291242103 There are more census to be located for the children of William S Jobe and Malinda Bunch and when time permits I will see if I can find them to add. Remember you can always locate any family on Ann's website for any of the albums we have up. Had 2 major Job(e) breaks this week on lines that I had been looking for some time. Both are on the Jacob Job(e) and Deborah MacKay/McKay. The first one is Enoch Bacon (1822-1868) who married Sarah Jackson. I had nothing on this family before. I now have a 19 page report on their descendants which I'll have in the next update of Job(e) Legacy. Enoch Bacon was s/o Jonathan Bacon and Sarah Jackson, gs/o George Jackson and Elizabeth 'Betsy' Job(e) and gt gs/o Jacob Job and Deborah MacKay. Right now I don't know Sarah's parents but there is a good chance she may be a Job descendant herself. I also have 4 tombstone picutres to post for this family. By 1850, this family had went to Greene Co., TN. The next one is the one that I got today and is for Lydia Cox (abt 1805 Sullivan Co., TN - 1888 Collin Co., TX) and she married John J. Hale (1805 TN - 1841 Giles Co., TN). Lydia is on the 1850 Giles Co., TN census. Lydia (Cox) Hale was the d/o John Cox, Sr. and Mary Leah Job(e) and gd/o Jacob Job and Deborah MacKay. This line will also be in the next update of Job(e) Legacy. I have to get it entered and several clues to explore and follow.
