When you're visiting this Christmas season, please keep an eye out for anything to be posted to these pages. There are a few others that do have Memory Lane pages started. *These pages include -- Old letters either written by or TO a Job(e) descendant, statements made in pension records, diaries, (if you have something and wonder or question if it would be good for this page - then write me directly at [email protected] --------- Christmas Project **I would love to have some letters written by some of our older Jobe descendants living today, telling about their Christmas when they were younger - 1930's, 1940's, 1950's - even 1960's. Since this is the Christmas season, I'm going to 'open this up and encourage' letters from EVERYONE - not just Andrew Job Jr's descendants. The link will be on the proper page though - whether it be (also every letter I receive [email protected] that concerns Christmas past, I'll post to this list betweeen Dec 20th and Dec 27th. ***Just remember the ones that are for 1960's and BEFORE I need those letters NOW so I can get them posted to a Memory Lane page and I can get them organized into a folder for me to post between Dec 20th and Dec 27th. Depending on length, some may be divided into parts. Also, during this time I would encourage YOU to write to the list and tell us something about YOUR own Christmas in the past 1970's-1980's, etc. How were they different from today? While searching on Heritage the other day, I noticed a search engine that said Rev War so decided to see what it was. To my surprise I found Rev. War Pension records for Enoch Job, Jr, and his second wife Sarah which I already had, but also of Daniel Defoe Job s/o Archibald Job and Margaret Rees. I saved the images and have now made an album for Daniel. These are the first records to be found for him that we could post. http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=2134513461 http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/jobe/album/dan_defoe_j.html Freida

If you have family that might be buried in Canyon Co., Idaho, which was created in 1892 from Ada Co., Idaho, you might want to visit the website of Dennis McIndoo http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~holton/cempics/headstones.htm He had sent me a picture of one tombstone of a person that he had found in Job(e) Legacy. Well today when I checked the site, I couldn't believe that work that this man has done, and the offer he has made, especially considering that he isn't even related to many of the people buried in these cemeteries. Well I checked the site and he has already sent me 10 tombstone pictures for the descendants of William Jobe and Elizabeth Gray. There is even one of Elizabeth (Gray) who was born in 1812 and died in 1884. And it has a beautiful verse at the bottom of the monument. I'll be posting these in a new album probably tomorrow. *William Jobe born May 5, 1816 Missouri Territory was the s/o Abraham Job(e) and his 1st wife, Polly Simpson, and the gs/o my Samuel Jobe and Dorcas MacKay. Greetings all, I have just discovered that Ancestry has FREE access to the 1880 census images. Don't know how long this will be or if they are doing it full time, but thought you might like to know. http://content.ancestry.com/iexec/?htx=List&dbid=6742&ti=0&r=0 Freida
For Your Information... This information was published on another list that I subscribe to. Though "time-limited," it's a *wonderful* opportunity to explore the NEHGS databanks! Enjoy! :-) Peace & blessings, Cathy PORTER-Maynard (In Minnesota)... ================================= FORWARDED POST: www.NewEnglandAncestors.org Excerpt: NEHGS is pleased to offer free access to its New England Historical and Genealogical Register database on New England Ancestors.org over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend! Normally only available to NEHGS members, the Register database will be accessible to everyone from Thursday, November 25 through Sunday, November 28, 2004. We encourage all NEHGS members to spread the word about this offering, and we hope that those of you who are not members find a veritable feast of ancestors in the Register database! Published quarterly since 1847, The New England Historical and Genealogical Register is the flagship journal of American genealogy and the oldest journal in the field. The online database includes issues from 1847 to 1994. The Register has featured articles on a wide variety of topics since its inception, including vital records, church records, tax records, land and probate records, cemetery transcriptions, obituaries, and historical essays. Authoritative compiled genealogies have been the centerpiece of the Register for more than 150 years. Thousands of New England families have been treated in the pages of the journal and many more are referenced in incidental ways throughout. The articles in the Register range from short pieces correcting errors in print or solving unusual problems to larger treatments that reveal family origins or present multiple generations of a family. Look for details on how to obtain free access to the Register in a special eNews bulletin to be sent out Wednesday, November 24. A link will also be available on that date on the home page of our website, www.NewEnglandAncestors.org ==========
A new records album has been made for Hannah Johnson and Isaac Hillis Jr. Hannah was the d/o Mary Logue Johnson and William Johnson, gd/o Hannah Job and William Marrs Logue, and gt gd/o Enoch Job and Lucretia ? I have also added to this album what census I could find for her children. Her son Clayborn died after he was married to Bethia Barnes and before the 1900 census so none will be found for them together. I did however find his widow and two children living with her parents on the 1900 census. I also found several census with her son Logan and his wife so those are also there. I have no information on her daughter Sophronia so do not know if she married or not. Her son Benjamin did marry Josephine Barnes but I can not locate them on any census, so not sure what happened to them. So since there was not that many records to locate, I decided to put all of the family together on this one.
