Hello everyone, I have been putting a lot of new PAYNE research on-line and have made some new finds which might be of interest to some on the list. I am hoping that someone may recognize some of the connections and fill in some of the JENNINGS blanks I have. Particularly regarding John PAYNE of Rappahannock County, VA. who died in 1690. He is thought to have married Margaret JENNINGS. I believe she was either a sister or daughter of John JENNINGS, but I have no details and I am relying solely on the research of others for that information. It is possible that John also married Margaret ROBINSON. Whether he married twice or we just have our Margaret's confused is the question. William ROBINSON left records calling John PAYNE his kinsmen and I have to admit, I have not seen any specific record naming Margaret JENNINGS as John's wife. There were many inter-colony connections between these families and many have been established- ALLERTON, APPLETON, TAYLOR, HOPKINS, SNOW, MARTIN, BENNETT, WALKER, CLARKE, CRADDOCK, COLE, COOPER, COLE, COMBES, WINSLOW, CALVERT, BRENT, FLEETE, STONE, WEST, MORGAN, GOOKINS, to name a few. If anyone has an interest in any of these names or in 17th century colonial merchants, please have a look at http://www.payn.org/george-payne.shtml For a list of sources used, see http://www.payn.org/notes.shtml These pages are part of my larger web site devoted to these merchant families, located at http://papayne.rootsweb.com Hope to hear from you, Patrick Payne http://www.payn.org
