Hello and Hello All to List, I have been tied up with other matters lately but took one quick minute to very quickly scan the Jennings messages. I hope in a couple of months, I can get back into my love, genealogy. As to below, I ran into this same problem with my Jennings in this area. First, I found my Jennings in Ginnings, Gennings, (use variations of the surname - the spelling depended on who was writing the name down and sounding it out). Also, something very interesting that I have found is that the Jennings family had quite a bit of Indian blood and many have a dark complextion. Due to the oppression inflicted on the Indians during this period of time, some Jennings, Jennens, Ginnings, Gennings, etc. claimed to be colored and not Indian. Example: In my line, there are Jennings brother and sisters listed on roles and some of them appear on the colored role and some of them appear on the white role, even though they are full blooded brother and sisters. During my research, I have discovered that some of my Jennings (ended up in Ohatchee, Alabama) did not want to be removed to an Indian reservation so they appeared on the colored roles.
