Connie and everyone else I want to let everyone know that: These attachments that you are receiving ARE NOT COMING THROUGH/VIA the mailing lists. What is happening and I will take Connie's case for an example: (congrats for resisting the temptation to open it!) Connie at some time in the past has made a posting to the Jennings Mailing list regarding John Wesley Jennings and that was her subject line that she used. When this message appeared on the list, the subject line looked like this: Re: [JENNINGS] John Wesley Jennings Now, ANYONE on the list that either opened or read her posting has it in their system. They may also have replied to her at one time or another. Therefore her email is also in their system or perhaps their address book. Some systems are set to save any address that a person replies to. NOW-- When that person (whoever it is) gets a virus in their system, then it picks up EVERYTHING in their system/address book and sends out an email using that subject line. So therefore the subject line appears to be coming from the list and it isn't. As I posted the other day, NO LEGITIMATE ATTACHMENT WILL EVER, EVER COME IN WITH A SUBJECT LINE THAT HAS THE LIST NAME ON IT. If you receive a posting with the name of the list on it and it has an attachment, IT IS A BOGUS POSTING!! IT IS A BOGUS POSTING!! You can delete these without reading and not be concerned that you will miss data. I cannot stress this strongly enough-- Until this current virus flare up is past DON'T OPEN ANY ATTACHMENTS FROM ANYONE!! Unless someone lets you know ahead of time in a separate email of what they are sending and how many. If there is a variation of what they said, then DON'T OPEN IT. Don't worry about missing a piece of data... Is that one piece of data worth YOUR ENTIRE SYSTEM?? Remember, in being on a mailing list, you are also risking everyone else's system also.
