    1. Re: [JENNINGS] James Jennings -> Late 1700's to early or mid 1800's -> Ky and...
    2. Judy, Found your post re. James Jennings interesting. You may well find yourself deluged with messages from other Jennings researchers looking for info about their James J. Facts about my James Jennings: 1) Parents: Augustine and Rachel Jennings (purchased 100 acres, 1777, Orange Co. VA, from Uriel and Rachel Mallory. 2) b. 1780, Culpeper, VA 3) Siblings names: John, William, Richard Waugh, Polly 4) m. 1809, Ann Bradley Montague, of Cartersville, Cumberland Co, VA (dau. of Mickelborough and Saraiah (Moore) Montague 5) Mercantile business, practiced medicine, land investor 6) Purchased 2400 acres in MO in 1829. Moved family to MO in 1839. Seven children: James (said to have been child of 1st marriage to Ann (unknown). Robert M., William H., Mary Jane, Edward S., Martha Eliza, John C., Ann M. 7) After moving to MO engaged in farming and real estate, wrote letter dated1850 to nephew, William, of Richmond, VA. Con- tent of letter mentioned closing of a mercantile business in VA and also a business interest in Mississippi. Also the death of nephew, James Parks (Jennings?), brother of William (the letter recipient) having moved to St. Louis and then on to New Orleans, suddenly taking ill and dying while in New Orleans. I believe James Parks and William were the sons of James Jennings' brother, John Jennings. James' brother John Jennings m. Fanny Hunt in Culpeper, VA, 1803. 8) James Jennings wife, Rachel (?) died in 1799 in Madison Co, VA Executors: Reuben Willis, Thomas Coleman, John Rouson. Witnesses: Lucy Head, Sally Rowe, Richard Gaines, Margret Allen. 9) Some descendants of Jamestown, VA immigrant, William Farrar (told it is pronounced "Farra") moved to same area in MO (St. Louis) as James Jennings. One or more Jennings descendants married into Farrar family. Family burial plot next to Jennings plot in St. Louis cemetery. 10) Still searching for information about James Jennings' father, Augustus/Augustin/Augustine Jennings and Rachel, his wife. Searching Culpeper, Madison and other counties created from Orange Co, VA, or from which Orange Co, VA may have been derived. Also searching in Carolinas, Kentucky, Missouri and VA for relatives of James Jennings. 11) Bill of sale for slaves caught my attention. The names sound familiar, but will have to double check.
