Have you had the opportunity see the book, "Documented Notes On Jennings and Allied Families" by Beatrice Mackey Doughtie? It is out of print now but is available in some genealogy libaries. The family you are inquiring about: James Jennings and his descendents is well covered in 4 or more pages in the said book. You are correct in that James son is Lewis and your GGG grandfather Redding is Lewis' son.
