Hello, Sandy. I noticed you have the name Gideon Jennings listed. My earliest known ancestor was named John Cox and he married a woman named Ann Brown, probably from Charleston, SC. John Cox died early, around 1787 and his widow married a man named Gideon Jennings, of Orangeburgh, SC. He died around 1815. Their children eventually ended up in Mississippi, where this particular Jennings clan still resides. The son of John Cox/Ann Brown (John Charles Cox, Sr.) and his half-brother, Artemus Jennings (son of Gideon and Ann) were very close and John C. Cox named a son Artemus Jennings Cox. The Jennings name is still found in my family today. So, since I don't think the name Gideon is all that common I'm wondering if you might know of anything about the Gideon Jennings, Ann Brown Cox marriage. We're thinking that any information will come from the Jennings family since no one in my family seems to know anything about John Cox. Thanks!
