    3. David Jennings b1742 Scotch Plains,Somerset,NJ Sarah Cushman b 6 Nov 1743 Lebanon,Ct David Jennings and Sarah Cushman were married 27 December 1763 at New Providence, Essex County, NJ [this information is listed in a Cushman family genealogy that is housed at the DAR Library in Washington, D.C.]. This family started in NJ, probably resided in Berkeley Co., VA [now WV], moved to Morgan Twp., Washington Co., PA and then migrated to Ohio. David Jennings was killed by an Indian in a township called Columbia in Hamilton Co., OH ca. 1793. He died intestate. Sarah (Cushman) Jennings died intestate in Montgomery Co., OH sometime prior to 2 August 1827, but she owned a 160 acre tract of land in Miami Co., OH. Sarah's heirs sold the land to a third party [recorded in Deed Book 6, pp. 421-423, Miami Co., OH]. I (PatriciaShawker,shawker@smart.net) have a rather poor copy of the deed. Her heirs were: Cyren[i]us Jennings and Mary his wife; Jacob Whitestone and Rhoda his wife (formerly Rhoda Jennings); Thomas Ross, David Ross, Jacob Ross, and John Ross (the children of Mary [Jennings] Ross deceased); Henry Jennings; Isaac Dunham, David Dunham, and Jonathan Dunham (the children of Sarah [Jennings] Dunham deceased); Levi Jennings; and Elnathan Cory and Hannah his wife (formerly Hannah Jennings). Levi and Henry Jennings purchased land in Tippecanoe County, IN where they both died. Levi was b. Jan. 1771 d. 17 Jan. 1837 and Henry was b. 1775 and d. 1839. Cyren[i]us Jennings lived in Warren Co., OH and I (Patricia Shawker)have an equally poor copy of his will that was written 4 August 1837 [Will Book and page number not known] and was filed in the courthouse in Lebanon, OH. In his will he named his children: David, Henry, Zephaniah, Levi, William and John Jennings - next is listed: Margaret, Sall[e]y, and Phebe. There is no mention of his wife Mary, but I seem to recall hearing that she died before him. The rest of the family migrated to Ohio in the fall of 1788, but Cyren[i]s stayed in Washington, Co., PA a little longer.
