I am looking for the parents of Elijah H. Jennings, b. 1812/13, m. Elizabeth Williams in 1837, Priscilla Hackworth in 1840, and Margaret Malissa Tucker in 1844, all in Wilson Co., Tn. A cousin says Al Jennings, the Oklahoma Outlaw, was a cousin, and in his book, cites himself as descending from William Jennings, brother of Humphrey. Al's father was Judge John D.F.Jennings. I can't make the connections. If you have anything to help me I would appreciate it. By marriage bonds, etc. I know they are related, but how? There are also numerous Wiley's among the desc. and I have wondered if it came from the Wiley surname that is in your information. Deloris
This is also my line from Schuyler Patterson Jennings, son of Doctor Jennings and Rhoda Wiley. Schuyler's son, Milton Travis is my ggrandfather, his son, Henry Milton is my grandfather. My father, Saval (Val) Baker Jennings and Sarepta Prince had five sons, Val John, Douglas Rulon, Joseph Paul, Floyd, and Howard Wayne. I married Nancy Louise Draughn and we had the following children: Robert Allen (stillborn), Helen Louise, Karl Edward, John David, Mary Katherine, Donald Wayne, Valerie Michelle, and Daniel Lewis. Sarepta departed this life on November 19, 1999. She was survived by 5 children, 36 grandchildren, and over 30 great grand children. I would love to hear from any and all cousins. If interested in this side of the Jennings family, visit my web page at http://www.myfamily.com and use jennings as both user name and password. Any family meember contacting me will be invited to join the web site. 'G'day from 'Down Under' - Looking for information on a George & Rose Jennings (my gggg grandparents) from around Norwich/London in the 1800-1850s. Their son George (unsure if there were any other children) was born in Norwich in March 1818 & married a Martha Woolner (born in Great Yarmouth in August 1819 - parents James & Ann (nee Wilson)) in London on 3 November 1839. A child - Mary Emma - was born on 2 December 1840 & the family emigrated to Australia, arriving on the Queen Victoria in Sydney on 26 July 1841.Three other children (George, William & Mary Ann) were born in Sydney (for which we have subsequent family information), but no records of marriage/death of Mary Emma or death of George. Martha remarried an Edward Coulson in 1852 & have records of her death. The infamous 'brick wall' is the lack of any information on George & Rose & actual birth details of son George. Any assistance would be appreciated. Regards Keith Jennings Principal Planning Officer Forest Resources Tel: W 07 3224 2078 H: 07 3379 3901 Fax: W 07 3234 0326 / 07 3224 2072 Inter. I had planned to go see the papers however having arrived at the University of North Carolina chapel hill I spent 3 hrs trying to find a place to park. So I gave up. I have just learned that my grgrandmother was a Martha JENNINGS. I have been reading this list for a while and have seen nothing on any Mississippi Jennings. As we know nothing of this side of the line I am hoping someone may have some information on the Mississippi Jennings. I am guessing that she was born around 1850-60. Perhaps as late as 1870. She married a Henry Jefferson "Jeff" GAMMILL. My grandfather Haven McKinley GAMMILL was born Nov. 15, 1896 in Clarkston, Webster, MS. Also anyone have a good suggestion on where to park at the University of North Carolina so one can go view the Trist Wood papers? Deborah
Hi, Deborah, Oh, I forgot to mention, also, that my uncle, William/Willie Spencer MYRICK married Marie GAMMILL whose family also married into the MYRICK line that it looks like we descend from through another marriage. W. Spencer MYRICK isson of the previously mentioned in the last post right before this.....James Martin MYRICK and Allie Artimissa PARKER. I believe it was on Ancestry.com that I found the information for Marie GAMMILL's family which I did not previously have. Sincerely, Bellinda Myrick Barnett
Hello, I don't know if there is a connection right offhand but I have JENNINGS into Mississippi in Covington County, MS by the mid-1800s. My great, great, grandfather was Bailey JENNINGS who married Kitty EARLE December, 1811, and their daughter, Sarah 'Sally' JENNINGS, my great, great grandmother, married Jeremiah 'Jerry' PARKER, born: 1795 in Maryland, parents: ??, poss. Richard T. PARKER was his father and he descends from the BARHAM - PARKER line in Maryland in the late 1600's and early 1700's. Sarah 'Sally' JENNINGS and Jeremiah 'Jerry' PARKER had several children including my great grandfather, Spencer B. PARKER, born: 1859, and he married my great grandmother, Rachael Moranda 'Randa/Randy' LEWIS aka Rachael Moranda LEWIS COLEMAN BRIGHT PARKER. Their daughter, Allie Artimissa PARKER, my grandmother, was born: 1892 near Braxton, Simpson Co., MS, married James Martin MYRICK and moved to Northeastern Louisiana near Oak Grove in the 1920's. Let me know if you find any connections. Sincerely, Bellinda Myrick Barnett
Just noticed in your post that you're going to see the Trist Wood papers. I have wanted to for a long time, but not made it. If you find an Elijah H. Jennings, b. 1812/13 in Ky or Tn. would you please let me know? I have hunted high and low to find his parents, know that he is connected to the other Jennings families, but can't find out how. He was in Wilson Co., Tn. in 1837, m. Elizabeth Williams, they div. and in 1840 he m. Priscilla Hackworth, and in 1844 m. Margaret Elizabeth Tucker, my gggrandmother. Family says he was killed in an accident, (probably late 1860's, but I don't know when or where. I have the children and line on down. Deloris
Hi, I'm sure my line is connected here somehow...just don't know how. My line is also littered with Wylie's. I am desc. from Elijah H. Jennings, b. 1812/13 in either Ky. or Tn. Married in Wilson Co., Tn. to: (1) Elizabeth Williams in 1837 (div. in 1840), 2. Priscilla Hackworth in 1840, and (3) to Margaret Malissa Tucker, my gggrandmother, in 1844. His 1st child was Demmitt Wiley, and all down the line, I think everybody had a Wiley (or Wylie). I cannot find who the parents of Elijah or Margaret were. If you have anything, please let me know. Deloris
Sorry, I do not know of any other connection. I found that info in the book "The Phillips Family" by Harry Phillips.
