Kathleen, don't worry about good intentions that go amiss. We all have them from time to time. Thank you for sharing the books and being willing to help others. My grandmother was Anna Belle Jennings Norris. Her great-great grandfather was David Jennings. David Jennings was raised in South Carolina and would have been born around 1760 or earlier. He had four children, James, Garrett, Sarah & Rebecca. The eldest, James Jennings was born in 1777. They lived in Kentucky before migrating to Tuscaloosa County, Alabama around 1817. I've shared all that to ask you could David Jennings and parents or other relatives have come from the New England Jennings you mentioned in James Savage's "Genealogical Dictionary of the First Settlers of New England"? "There are quite a few books available for searching at this website and in James Savage's "Genealogical Dictionary of the First Settlers of New England", there is a whole page on the Jennings family." Have you read that information that you spoke of? If so, does it give any indication that there could have been a son named David, or anyone of that family who went to SC in that era? Are there any David, James, Garretts mentioned? Do I need to purchase the book? I hate to burden you with so many questions but I'd really appreciate your help. God bless, Sandy Norris Kizziah [email protected]
Hi Cousins, I have uncovered some letters and paperwork from JENNINGS FAMILY RECORD, Richmond Va and Lancaster KY, Herbert Gilmore Johnson, Secretary from January 1930. The make reference to "The Rich Jennings Uncle" in England and an Augustine Jennings who died in Virginia in 1776. I am not sure if this is part of the "Jennings Money in England", but it appears they were digging up relatives from Virginia trying to make claim to something back in England. They were charging .25 cents from all the relatives for "costs". These are typed letters from a Charles Loeber ...fun reading...but I am not sure what it all means. Anyone have any idea...?? Listers, Sorry for all of the extra "junk" that came thru on my message regarding books that are online. I tried to cut and paste just the info that I wanted to share, but somehow it didn't come out quite right. There are quite a few books available for searching at this website and in James Savage's "Genealogical Dictionary of the First Settlers of New England", there is a whole page on the Jennings family. Was trying to be a good kid and share but sometimes the best of intentions are quite enough. Sorry for the confusing mess, Kathleen This is a link to Savage and a whole bunch more. http://genweb.net/~blackwell/books.html

Maureen - I am not sure if I answered your request or not. I just found your note while cleaning out my e-mail box. I have a John M. Jennings born in Chapmanville, Venango County, Pa. married to Kate Estelle Jennings of Bloomville, Crawford or Seneca County, Ohio on 6/15/1690 at Bowling Green, Ohio. 6 of their children were born in Ohio and they were still there in 1909 and then moved to Keifer, Ok. where the last two children were born. Does any of this fit your Jennings? Hello List Members, The latest JENNINGS-D-Digest (#250, I think) was deleted on my machine by mistake. It contained a message concerning Sam Jennings that I think is crucial to my Jennings line. If someone would send me a copy of this message I would be most grateful. Thanks, Pat ___________________________________________________________________ Why pay more to get Web access? Dear Gordon, I read with great interest the decendancy chart of James A. JENNINGS that arrived here in Jennings Digest V99 #265 on 23 Dec. WHAT a Christmas present! I would very much like to contact the other gentleman you mentioned. Could you provide a e-mail or postal address? Or forward a note for me? I make a direct connection with Generation 3 - William Jennings m. Ruth UNK. I have a lot of information on that line to the current time. Ruth and William (middle initial 'B.' in my records) had three additional children in Marshall County before Ruth died ca 1856. These children were: 4 - General Layafette JENNINGS b. 6 Sep 1849 d. 1 Jan 1940 Metcalfe Co., KY m(1). Martha Ann WORD, 1 June 1873 Metcalfe Co., KY m(2).
