My oldest confirmed relative is my GGG Grandfather Redding Jennings who lived in Providence KY in Webster County from approx. 1813-1880's. I know a fair amount about his life, but I have yet to firmly establish whom his parents are. I have some reason to suspect Lewis Jennings is his father who came from Caldwell County and James Jennings his Grandfather. Does anyone know more about this? If so please contact me. Hello Redding, I am sorry I cannot provide you with any information on the Jennings family. However, My maternal great grandmother was Mary E. Jennings who came from Wetzel Co. W.Va.or Marshall Co or this area. She married Charles E. Sharp and they eventually moved to Parkersburg W.Va., where they raised their family. Dolly Sharp was my grandmother and there were several boys in the family. G-Grandfather Sharp died in Roumania where he traveled seeking a cure for his cancer. G-Grandmother died in Parkersburg,W.Va. Hello, I am posting to this list for the first time. I have found a daughter of my ancestor, Dr.Peter Smith, (1753-1816) named Sarah Sally Smith who married Henry Jennings, 15 Mar. 1799, in Ohio. My record says Hamilton Co. Ohio. She may have lived in Clark Co. Ohio when she died in 1825. Then I find a Joseph M. Jacobs, b.1870, of Miami Co. Ohio who married a Della Smith, and their daughter, Oda, married a Will Jennings, and lived in New Carlisle, Clark Co. Ohio. I need help to fill in the gaps. Is anyone else researching this line? Believe the old Jennings Estate kept coming up until WWII finally brought it to a close. I have an old newspaper that was kept by a great Uncle of mine and it was front page news in May 1928. At that time it was Mrs. Genevieve Jennings who was leading the fight for 41 Ohio descendants for the large estate left in 1798 by William Jennens in England. The one good thing brought about by this hunt for money was the hunt for Jennings ancestors. I also have letters that helped me greatly when compiling my Jennings line. My family was firing off letters to each other trying to find a connection and was a great help to me in finding where they all moved. I agree it is great fun reading! My family too tried hard to find the fortune in the 1930's ...and Charles Loeber was the man who they were paying to find the connection...there was a group of Jennings descendents in Texas having meetings. Mine never got connected to the fortune.... too bad those were hard days!
