Dear Jenkinses - I need your help. I am not sure of my g-g-gf's first name nor do I know my g-g-gm's maden name. How about that for a needle in a haystack! The 1850 Forsyth Co.GA. census lists a Martha Jenkins, b. S.C., age 41 and two sons, R.R., age 4, and I.B., age 1, both b. GA. The 1840 Forsyth Co. GA lists a James Jenkins, wife and six(6) children. The 1845 Forsyth Co.GA. STATE census lists a James M. Jenkins with eleven (11) in the household. R.R., Russell Renneau, was my g-gf, b. 12-03-1846. I.B. is not shown in any other censuses. We assume James(?) died in 1848/49. In a letter written by R.R. in 1897 to his cousin in Mississippi he states "where there will be no fathers dieing leaving poor widdows with helpless little children to be separated and lost to one another". Also "its good to know I have a living sister." No name given. I have look through all the LDS microfilm court records for Forsyth Co. GA. and have found nothing. Could R.R.'s middle name be Martha's maden name, Renneau? Any of you with Renneau or Reneau lines? Any Jenkins out there who had relatives in Forsyth County GA in the 1820-1860's? Martha and R.R. were in Chattooga Co. GA. for the 1860 and 1870 Censuses. R.R. married Mary Ann Hix in 1868. They moved to Bellefonte, Ark. in 1871 and were in the 1880 census there before they moved to Texas in 1882. Martha was not listed in the 1880 census in Bellefonte, Ark. or in the Forsyth Co., GA census of 1880. Any suggestions on how to trace Martha and James(?) back to or in S.C.? Thanks for your help.
