JENKINS possibly born in 1810 in state of Virginia or S. Carolina? As stated on 2 separate Census reports. In Fulton Co, IN in 1839 where he married Catherine YOUNG 25/5/1839, she was born in Ohio. In Federal Census John D. was listed. 1850 Census of Indiana, Catherine and John D. they were listed in Newcastle township in Fulton Co. By 1850 the couple had 6 children as follows: Levi in 1840, Joseph in 1842, Phillip 5/6/1843, Adam in 1845, Mary E. in 1847, James 5 months old in 1850. No mention of Lorenzo Dow JENKINS in this report. Although his death report said he was born in Champaign Co, Ohio on 26 of Feb. 1837. He passed away in Kosciusko Co, IN and buried in Fulton Co, IN. In the 1860 Census Levi JENKINS was living in Newcastle township and with the Caleb MONTGOMERY family as a boarder, he must have been married soon after as there is a divorce action in Fulton Co., Oct. 22, 1869, from Sarah M. JENKINS. He was still in 1880 Census in Newcastle twp. In the 1860 Census the other children were listed as living in other household not with John & Catherine their parents. Joseph age 18 yrs. living with the John KESSIER family, Adam age 15 yrs. and Mary E. age 13 yrs. living with John HURBICK family and James age 10 yrs. living with Morris BLODGET family. Phillip the 3rd eldest son was married 1/7/1866 to Elizabeth A. SANNS and living in Peru, IN. 1870 Census has Phillip and Elizabeth with 2 daughters: Anna and Minnie. The I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rochester, IN is their burial site. Phillip dates 1845-1914, Elizabeth 1848-1933, Minnie M. 1870-1942. No other children researched at this time. Mary E. JENKINS married James KESSIER 23/7/1879.. The 1880 Census of Newcastle twp. of Fulton Co. reported that James and Mary E. had her two brothers Richard and David W. and James' brother Michael living with them. Richard and David W. were sons of Lorenzo Dow JENKINS. In a report of Men in Miami Co. (Peru, IN) 1861-1865 Lorenzo Dow JENKINS was a Pvt Co. L. 127 Reg. Indiana Cav. 12/1/1864-10/11/1865 was born 26/2/1837 in Ohio and died 3/5/1911 in Kosciusko Co. and buried at Reicher Cemetery. Fulton Co he had married Mary Eliza SEBRING 24/1/1857 (2-357) she was born in Butler Co, Ohio and Dau. of Warren Addison SEBRING and Sarah HIGBEE. 5 children listed as follows: John Wesley 12/1/1857-29/7/1939, Elizabeth Adaline, Dow, Richard (called Dick) and David W. 2/6/1870-29/8/1962 - two other daughters were born but died young. Indiana was 20 yrs old and was a school teacher and Pearl died as Infant. I have proof that Lorenzo was married 3 other times: Sarah A DORNOR 29/11/1876 (C-423), Hattie PETTITT 8/5/1880 (D-143) and Margaret A PETTITT 3/12/1886 (E-103) all listed Fulton Co records. Although Lorenzo was buried at Reicher Cemetery and Margaret (called Mag) was buried in Mentone, IN. I think that maybe other family may have been buried at Reicher since I can't find Mary E. SEBRING or John D and Catherine burial place. The stones at the cemetery are in very bad shape and in some cases no stone at all. David W. JENKINS and Sarah Ellen JEFFERIES is our direct line they had 10 children. I received a report for Champaign Co, Ohio Genealogy Society the only account was in 1870 Census of Lorenzo and his two children age 13 yrs and 3 yrs. The only other account I have of Mary age 51 and Lorenzo age 12 was in 1850 Census in town of Peru, IN. I believe that John D. JENKINS had two children Mary and Lorenzo by a former marriage in Ohio and brought them to Indiana with him in late 1830's.
