Dear Cuzzins, Boy, I just read what I had written to the digest on the above. Gosh, I am a dummy. I forgot that not everyone has a complete run down of my genealogy...! I know I made that last message to the list so confusing. And I apologize to the list. Forgive me please. Joseph was my great grand dad....his death cert listed "his" parents by his second wife Nellie, (who was still alive, naturally)...and Nellie put down that my great great grand parents were from VA...and "they" are: Harrison and Nancy Smith Jenkins, and I just found "their" marriage bond in Gates County, NC. Then I read a census book on Gates County, NC, and found Harrison and Nancy Jenkins are from "VA" according to that census book. I hope I have cleared up my confusing previous post. Can someone tell me what the clerk of the court meant when he said that the marriage cert was issued where the bride was "from"...did he mean where the bride was "born"?
