Dear Cuzzins, You have all been so nice to respond to my query. The general consensus from all of you has been the following: that the marriage license/bond/bann was issued where the bride was living at the time of requesting marriage. Because it would make no sense for a woman who was born in say, VA and moved to Florida, and wanted to get married, to have to come back to VA....to request a marriage license/bond/bann in a state where she was not even residing at the time. OK? So, I agree with you all that it meant that the marriage was issued where the bride lived at the time. In most cases, however, the bride was usually born where she was living, but not always. So, now I have to go back to the drawing board and try to figure out "where" in VA...Nancy Smith Jenkins, and W.H.H. (or as he was known, Harrison) Jenkins/Jinkins were from in VA If anyone can check a FTM cd for all the Harrison Jenkins/Jinkins, Nancy Jenkins that were living in VA "before 1850"...it would help me a lot.....in 1850 Harrison was 29 and Nancy was 22.....I believe Harrison had a brother named James Jenkins, and that Harrison and James Jenkins had a mother named Ann Jenkins....just wish I knew their dad's first name, that would be the one that would reveal the gold mine of info that I need. Can anyone help me configure this, to find out his dad's first name, with FTM cds? Thanks in advance, cuzzin Susan of Tidewater, VA
