    1. [JENKINS] Jenkins & Evans of OH

    3. JENKINS, MARY wife of ROBERT EVANS. I know precious little about Mary Jenkins. I know according to Marriage records, 1807-1968 Ohio. Probate Court (Miami County) 26 Nov 1835 that this is her marriage date to Robert Evans. I know Robert Evans was first married to ESTHER JENKINS d/o Thomas Jenkins and Maris Gaunt. I know on Robert Milton Evans death certificate it lists Mary Jenkins as his mother and Robert Evans as his father. In the online 1880 History of Miami Co it states: "Robert Evans was married to Mary Jenkins in 1824" (right wife, wrong year) In the Genealogical & Biographical Record of Miami Co Pub 1900 pg 778-780 GEN-R 977.148 G326 it states "married about 1812 to Esther Jenkins, and they became the parents of ten children. After the death of his first wife, Robert married Mary Jenkins." and " prior to his death he joined the New Light Church" I know in the Encyclopedia of American Genelaogy Vol V Mill Creek MM it records Robert Evans marriage to Esther Jenkins but I can't find any reference to Mary. Were they married in the New Light Church? 1812, 7, 2. Robert s Joseph & Esther, Mont. Co., O., m in Mill Creek, Esther Jenkins, dt Thomas and Maria In the Centennial Portrait & Biographical Record of The City of Dayton and of Montgomery County by AW Bower & Co. 1897 it states under the bio of Moses Evans in the paragraph about Moses's heritage it states Robert Evans "July 12, 1812 he married Esther Jenkins of Ohio, daughter of Thomas Jenkins........the mother of these children died January 26, 1835, and Mr. Evans again married, his second wife being Mary Jenkins. I was given Mary's birthyear as 1808 and her deathdate by another Evans cousin. Now, there is a Mary Jenkins b. 1808 to Jesse and Hannah (Russell) Evans, Jesse is the brother of Esthers father, Thomas. Does anyone know if my Mary Jenkins is this same Mary? Does anyone know anything about her at all? I sent off for what I thought to be her death record from the Miami Probate court, the certificate I recieved was for a Mary Evans but who died in 1877 and it does not list parents. My gut feeling is that she's the daughter of Jesse but with no Quaker Record of their marriage I have no proof. I cannot find the New Light Church her husband joined after leaving the Quakers. If that's where they were married then what? I searched the Miami Valley Genealogical Index, found Robert and Esthers marriage listed but not Mary's and Roberts. I'm getting quite frustrated with this ancestor of mine :-) Any hints, information, leads, ANSWERS or tidbits are truly welcome!!!! Have a great day!! Donna Gill in MD
