In the process of searching for a John and Mary Jenkins in North Carolina I came across some documents which contain a virtual "gold mine" of information. I am posting some info from the documents. Anyone who wants the reference or an abstract may contact me. The documents are in the North Carolina State Archives under the respective names. Will of Thomas Jenkins dated 1801. Heirs: Wife: Martha, sons: John and Thomas; daughters: Anne, Lettice, Rachel and Martha and married daughters ? Hodges/Hodgeson and Mary Macy (Macey). I believe that Thomas and Martha were Quakers. John and Lettice never married. Thomas had willed his property to his son John. When John died his estate and property passed to his brothers and sisters and their descendants, who, were by the time of his death were scattered far and wide. Efforts to settle the estate and sell the property lasted from 1869 to the mid 1870s. The heirs had to be contacted regarding the sale of the property. They are all listed, along with the place of residence of the out of state heirs. A total of about 50 names appear in the documents. Surnames mentioned: Jenkins, Fentrep, Vickory (Vickery) , Macy, Wiley, Wickear? Datton, Hodgin, Overman, Dillian, Bond. Residences mentioned: Guilford Co., N.C. Union Co., Ind.
