After his first wife, Jemima Williams, died, Thomas Jenkins of Greenville Co., SC married Ruth Barton, eldest dau. of Benjamin Barton and Lucy Welborn of NC. Thomas and Ruth settled in Lauderdale Co., AL. where Ruth's brother, Wm. S. Barton had the "Barton's Trading Post". Thomas Jenkins and Ruth Barton had 9 children born before 1814.
