I am seeking more info on the descendants of Jonas Jenkins, Sr. born ca. 1774 in Shenadoah County, Virginia and died ca. 1856 in Bryson City, NC. Jonas, Sr. was married to Mary Brickey. I am the descendant of his illegitimate son, Charles "Dock" Jenkins, born 1829, NC and died in 1915 in Bryson, NC. Dock served during the Civil War for the Confederacy in 29th NC, Company F. He joined in 1861 at age 41 and acheived the rank of Sargeant by the time the war ended. One of his daughters, Sarah Josephine, had a daughter, Mae Magdalene Jenkins, born ca. 1885 and died in the 1940s (my great grandmother). Sarah later married Lee Fuller (the biological father of Mae's first three children, the oldest of which was my grandfather). After divorcing Lee Fuller, Sarah later married a man by the name of Keys. My grandfather's name was Lewis McKinley Fuller (born in Ga in 1901 and died in Maryville, TN in '70). Later my grandfather took the surname of his stepfather, Samuel Allen White. My father was Lewis McKinley White, Jr. (born in 1932 in NJ and died in 1981 in NC). If anyone has any info on this line, I would deeply appreciate it. What I put above is just a little of the info I have, if anyone else is researching this line, I'll be happy to share what I have so far. Alicia
Am looking for information on the Jenkins family that lived in the Usk-Pontypool area of Wales in the early 1900's. And also the Hercules Jenkins family that lived in Llansoy in the 1800's. While searching for Ella Rosa Jenkins of Charleston, SC, born in Louisiana in about 1840, I have just received a copy of a Judgement relating to the Succession to MARIE BEGNAUD JENKINS being the widow of Civil War Veteran EDWARD JENKINS of Lafayette Parish La. This is referenced No. 4732 of the 15th Judl. Dist. Court of LA. Parish of Lafayette, and dated 27 Dec 1930. Edward JENKINS served in F Company 26th Infantry (LA) regiment. enlisted 27 March 1862, paroled 4 July 1863 Vicksburg. This Judgement lists numerous Jenkins and others who appear to be the decedents or co-laterals of Edward JENKINS and Marie nee Begnaud JENKINS who were married on 12 Nov. 1868 in Lafayette Parish. Edward died at Lafayette on 7 July 1904 Marie JENKINS died 21 Sept 1930 at Lafayette. The judgement concerned two tracts of land in Lafayette. Parish, and Lists those with varying rights of Succession or inheritance. William JENKINS, Wilfred JENKINS, Gaston JENKINS all residents of Lafayette Parish La. Lydia JENKINS married to Couret Simmon and Aline JENKINS married Ovey Mouton of Calcasieu Parish, La. Jeanne JENKINS resident of Harris County Tx. Odon Gilbert, Camille Gilbert, Gussie Gilbert married to Mack Herbert residents of Lafayette Parish. Please contact me for/with more information. Colin Carlin, Bath, UK. Note spellings as original.

I have to respond to this post I had a great laugh...now I know what's wrong with me. Many Thanks >From a descendant of a Jenkins Karen Spiker Miller > ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jaunice, That was a good one about the True Genealogist. I guess in the short time that I have been working on my genealogy, I have gotten the bug myself. My Jenkins lived in and around the Trout Run, PA area which is Lycoming County. My husband's grandmother was Emma Jenkins (died in 1948). Her daughter, Babe, says her mom always talked about an Erastus Jenkins and there is an Erastus Jenkins buried in the same cemetery in Trout Run but I haven't had time to take a trip there. Trout Run is just above Williamsport, PA and it takes 2 hours to get there for me. Because I work Monday through Friday its almost impossible to get there when I need to look at records of any sort. So I have joined the Lycoming Genealogical Society and hope to hear from them soon. I will keep everybody informed if I find anything of interest. Mary
Had a message from a cousin stating that 500 new names had been added to this database: http://www.gorge.net/aff/
