I am looking for some family history of the Duvee's in and around the NewAmsterdam area in the 1700 time frame. Mary Duvee married a James Jenkins in about 1713. They had a son, William, born 1714 and another son, John, born 1725. William moved to Bergen County, New Jersey and married Margrietje LaRue there in 1745. John married Jacomyntje Van Duersen in 1756 and remained in New York. This is all the information I have on this family with the exception of what I have in the following paragraph, sent to me by another researcher. "James Jenkins from Wales- who came to America in Queen Ann's reign about the year of our Lord 1700-01-02-03-04 and married a Miss Mary Duvee from France, who had twenty children, but which is more singular had seven children in three births, however, they all died before they were married, except William and John. The latter who was the youngest, was born in the year of our Lord 1725: pension application W 20179 on service of son James Jenkins 1758-1801." Tom Jenkins from Texas tjenkins@ghg.net

There is no charge for listing your ancestors and when permission is granted, contributors will be listed with the proper reference to their ancestor entries. Submission deadline is April 2000. The data will be published and sold at cost with copies going to the Library of Congress, Maine State Library, Maine State Historical Society and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Library. For submitting your ancestor's vital stats please use the following format: Head of Household-full name, age, date of birth, place of birth (include town-county-state), sex, race (W=white, C=colored, I=Indian, A=Asian). Hello, I'm new to the Jenkins list. I have been searching for my Wells ancestors and I have had no luck. I finally found a piece of the puzzle that seems to fit. My great grandparents were Bill and Betsy Jane Wells. I found Betsy's maiden name, Jenkins, on a summary index of deaths in Shamrock, TX, where I knew my Uncle Charles lived. His parents went to live there to be near family. Charles died in 1955. I know my heritage is Scottish, Irish and Indian. Betsy would have been born around 1840 and died at the age of 93. I believe she was born or lived in Tennessee, but this may not be accurate. She and Bill lived in Texas and Oklahoma, as well. I would appreciate any information at all. Thanks, Karen T. Hello Billy, Good to see that you are still looking for Scot Jenkins. I have not gotten anywhere with my James Jenkins b. 1828 m. Helen (Ellen) Sharp b. 1828 both in Scotland. Son John b. March 5, 1848, Scotland. They came to America in 1856 and settled in PA. Have obtained an immigration document from Philadelphia of a James Jenkins from Ireland in 1856. Could they have come to America via Ireland? I have never been able to get a document of the 1848 marriage at New Monkland, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Any suggestions? Note: I now know that James Jenkins and family are buried at the Old Monongahela Cemetery, Monongahela, Washington Co., PA. Is there anyone on the list who have Jenkins' buried there? I am reposting my Jenkins line again, in case some new members may have some inormation. I haven't been able to get very far on my Jenkins line yet. This is what I have: Frank Jenkins married to Elizabeth (last name unknown). They were living in Westmoreland Kansas in 1877 when my Great-grandma was born. I don't know when or where they were born. Hopefully someone knows who their parents were. Frank & Elizabeth had 3 children that I know of, they were Elzina, Mary Hannah, and Russell. Mary Hannah was my great-grandma. She was born April 14, 1877 in Westmoreland, Kansas. She married Henry Harry Levick. I guess Mary went by the name of "Mae" Elzina never married and she lived with my great-grandparents after her parents died. Russell evidently died as a child. I hope someone out there has some information to help me progress further on this Jenkins Line. Thanks all! Debbie (Levick) Backwell Eagle Creek, Oregon USA DBackwell@aol.com

More information on Dempsey Daniel Jenkins: Dempsey Daniel Jenkins was born Oct 13, 1837 in Neshoba County, Mississippi, and died Dec 26, 1956. He was married to Mary Elizabeth Welch. They had one son named Robert Benjamin Jenkins, and three daughters named Lotha Leona Jenkins, Leslie Annie Jenkins, and Luva Dean Jenkins. If there is anyone out there who can give me information on his family tree upward, I would appreciate it. I believe his fathers name was Clemincy Jenkins, born around 1843. Clemincy Jenkins' father is said to be William R. Jenkins born around 1820, but where I do not know. I have information that Clemincy "Clem" Jenkins had many sons: Dempsey Daniel, Clinton "Clint" C., William "Wiley" T., John F., Doctor "Doc," Willis "Wilks," and a daughters named Caroline.
I am looking for relatives of Dempsey Daniel Jenkins, born October 13, 1873, (birth place is believed to be in Neshoba County, Mississippi); died December 26, 1956. He was married to Mary Elizabeth Welch, born July 24, 1885; died June 23, 1923. I understand Dempsey Daniel Jenkins' father was Clemincy "Clem" Jenkins.
