I am try to find out any info on the family Jenkins. Mary Jenkins was born in 1898 we think Logan county but haven`t had much luck. I do know that her fathers name was Wm Jenkins and he married a woman named Elizabeth Martindale, we think that they probably married around the mid 1870`s. Can anyone help? Melinda
Alan, There is lots of Jenkins that came to Monongalia Co, VA\WV in the late 1700's. My grandfather left Preston Co about 1870's. Maybe we can help you get farther back where there is lots of info. Hello, This is a first post in a beginning family research project on a JENKINS family which was from WV. Ulysses Irwin JENKINS b circa 1870s WV was the father of Irwin Dent JENKINS b circa 1900 WV d 1960s NY state. I would appreciate any help from someone who may recognize this family. Not much to go on right now but there will be much more to post available soon. Thanks a lot. Al
Mary M. JENKINS b. May 1865/Richie Co., WV married Isaac Franklin LITTLETON. They were married on April 11, 1902/Wirt Co., WV. The only child I have listed for them is John LITTLETON b. Oct.1887/Wirt or Richie Co., WV. John LITTLETON b. 1887, married Lillie CRISS b. June 1892. John & Lillie were married on March 6, 1909 at Richie Co., WV. Their Children were Mary A. LITTLETON b. 1915 and Aurthur P.LITTLETON b. 1917. Lillie is the daughter of Jennie JENKINS b. Feb. 1863/WV and William CRISS b. 1862. My question is: Can anyone see a connection between Jennie JENKINS born 1863 and Mary M. JENKINS b. 1865? I have a feeling that these two JENKINS women were sisters. I have heard that the parents of my Jennie JENKINS were Realvy JENKINS & Martha BLACK, but I have no proof. I have also heard that Jennie's father was named Asa JENKINS. Any help with these Wood, Wirt, and Richie County families will be appreciated. Linda@Criss.com

Hi, I have just discovered my gggrandparents, William J. and Elizabeth (maybe Barclay) Jenkins. They had a total of 14 children. According to the 1900 Al Calhoun Co. census, only 7 were living. I have found most of them, but there is a gap in some. Below is what I have and what I need. If you have any information on any of these, please let me know. Thanks. William J. Jenkins Feb 10, 1812 - Mar 15, 1877 Born in TN, died in Calhoun Co., AL. Buried at Walnut Spring Cemetery, Jacksonville. Elizabeth Jenkins, wife, was living in 1900 in Jacksonville, and was 73. Born in GA, father in SC and mother in GA. Need to know parents and when died and where buried. Children: Born in Georgia, possibly Coweta Co. 1. William W. Jenkins, born abt. 1842. Died May 20, 1862 in Ashland, VA in a hospital. Need to know where buried. 2. Margaret born about 1844. Married White R. Marable April 2, 1865 in Calhoun Co. AL. I find her on the 1870 and 1880 census in Calhoun Co., AL with 2 children: Adolphus, Louisa, and Thomas. Her husband is not with her. I need to find out about her husband and when she died and where she is buried. 3. Malinda born about 1846. Married Alfred Davis June 20, 1874 in Calhoun Co., AL. She may have died before 1897. In the Alabama Heritage book there is an article about Alfred Davis that mentions he was married before. The person doesn't know who the first wife was. Alfred and Malinda were living in Cherokee Co in 1880. Had one daughter, Tempy. 4. Sarah born about 1849. The last time I have her in on the 1880 census living with her mother. I find no marriage record. Nor can I find a burial site. Need anything on her. 5. George born about 1853. Same as Sarah. 6. Mary Ann C. born Jan 4, 1856. Married Adolphus Monroe Evans Jan 29, 1878 in Calhoun Co., AL. I need to know her correct death date. They are both buried at Highland Cemetery in Piedmont, AL. Her tombstone has March 1925. However, she filed for a widows pension and the dates range from March 1930 to May 1930. My uncle was born in 1926 and he remembers Aunt Mary Ann coming to visit his grandfather, Levi, Mary's brother. Mary and Adolphus had no children. 7. Levi is my ggrandfather. Born May 2, 1855. Died Feb 17, 1941 Hokes Bluff, Etowah Co., AL 8. Andrew Jack born about 1857 in GA. Married Annie Emmaline Young. She was a widow in 1900 and she is buried at Youngs Chapel Cemetery in Hokes Bluff, Etowah Co., AL. Need to know when he died and where he is buried. Rest are born in AL 9. Hannah M. born about 1857. Married Thomas A. Hill Sept 6, 1877 in Calhoun Co., AL. Was living in Calhoun Co., in 1880 with husband and son John. Can't find anymore on them. 10. James J born Nov 11, 1860 died Feb 23, 1921. Buried at Walnut Spring Cemetery, Jacksonville, AL. Married Alice Badgett Dec 25, 1887. She was born Jul 2, 1865 and died Jul 14, 1926. Buried same place. They had at least 5 girls. I can't find them in 1910, but James and Alice are still living in Jacksonville in 1920 (I believe they are still there, just not in the index.) In 1920, Mollie and Willie, two of their daughters, are still unmarried (Mollie never married (b. Jul 29, 1890 d. Feb 12, 1947. Buried at Edgemont Cemetery, Anniston, AL). Willie is still alive in 1930, as Mary Ann Evans states she is living with her niece, Willie, when she applies for the pension. 11. Susan born about 1864. Was living with her sister Malinda in 1880. Can't find anymore about her. 12. Emma born April 14, 1864. Died Jul 13, 1920. Married William S. Stephens. Buried at Walnut Spring Cemetery in Jacksonville, AL. Was living in Calhoun Co. in 1900. Can't find her family after that. She has a son, I am assuming, buried at the same cemetery, William Ed, born Feb 4, 1907 died Oct 21, 1918. Need help finding when her husband died and where she was in after 1900. In 1900 they have one daughter, Linda, born Nov 1889. 13. Millie (Mattie or Mittie) born about 1869. Living with her mother in 1880 and 1900. Can't find her after that. She had a child out of wedlock, Mary B. The 1900 census states she has one child still living. Mary B. is living with Elizabeth and she states she is her granddaughter. Mary B. was born Jan 1887. 14. Unknown - This child was probably born and died between census. Now, the reason I think some of them moved to Texas. In Mary Ann's widow application, she states that she lived in Lamar Co., TX and moved back to AL in 1903. I think the ones I can't find may have went to Texas. Some returning, others not. The library here has the index for Texas for 1900, but it is unreadable. We don't have it for 1910 and 1920. I do have additional information on Levi if you would like it. If you have any answers or leads to the whereabouts of my missing family, please let me know. Another thought: One of Levi's daughter's and her husband move to Texas after 1900. She is buried in Grayson County and her husband in Henderson Co. Both counties not far from Lamar. I am thinking they moved there because family was already there. Thank you very much. Keitha Jenkins Kirk genealogy

I'm trying to find parents and ancestors of Elijah Jenkins, b. 1770 Botetourt Co., VA. Either he or his family moved to Montgomery Co., KY at some point. In 1796, he married Eliz. Meyers in Clark Co., KY, which is adjacent to Montgomery. He moved to Putnam Co., IN 1827 with some of his sons and he died there in 1862. I can't seem to get farther back from him. If anyone has information on these Jenkinses, would appreciate hearing. Thank you, John O'Neal
I am descended thru his son Benjamin and then thru son Jesse Jenkins. I would love to get more information too. I need help in determining whether or not I may have found the correct people. I am looking for my gggrandfather, W J Jenkins. In the AL 1860 Calhoun Co. census I found a Wm J Jenkins that was born in TN, his wife Elizabeth was born in GA. Looking up marriage records for GA I find a William Jenkins m. Elizabeth Barclay 29 Dec 1839 in Jasper Co., GA. William was born c. 1813 and his wife c. 1822. Children listed in the 1860 census in Calhoun Co., AL William, age 17 Margaret, age 14 Malinda, age 12 Sarah, age 10 George J, age7 Mary, age 5 Levi, age 4 Josa, age 3 Hannah, age 1 By 1870, William and Elizabeth must be died. I found a record in Calhoun Co., with Linda as the head of household and the following: Sarah, age 21 George J, age 19 Mary C., age 17 Levi, age 15 Hannah, age 13 Jimmie (f), age 9 Emma, age 6 Susan, age 6 Mitter (couldn't make out name), age 6/12, born in Dec. I have no idea what part of TN he was from because this is a 1st. We have always thought he was born in SC. But if he was born in TN, would they have moved to Jasper Co., GA, almost right in the middle of the state, then to Calhoun Co., AL? William was in GA by 1839 and in AL between 1850 and 1856. Can anyone help? Does anyone recognize these names? Thanks. Keitha in AL
