Dear Ray, As you may know, Julie Anne, (MAWJAW) are working on the same line. Julie Anne tends to believe that we may link up with you on the James M. JENKINS. We have Harmon JENKINS b. 1810 in GA, County unknown his parents were born in VA (as per AL census records) Did you come across a Harmon JENKINS as a R. R. JENKINS sibling? Regarding tracing your Martha to S.C., maybe you could find some kind of marriage index or birth index. Someone once sent me a computerized index called VISION. They do not recall where they got it. Any help out there? Is anyone familiar with a computerized marriage index called VISION. ??? Did you find any will information in GA? It may list a location in S.C.. Good luck and hope we hook up soon!! Karen Baker
Dear Jenkinses - I need your help. I am not sure of my g-g-gf's first name nor do I know my g-g-gm's maden name. How about that for a needle in a haystack! The 1850 Forsyth Co.GA. census lists a Martha Jenkins, b. S.C., age 41 and two sons, R.R., age 4, and I.B., age 1, both b. GA. The 1840 Forsyth Co. GA lists a James Jenkins, wife and six(6) children. The 1845 Forsyth Co.GA. STATE census lists a James M. Jenkins with eleven (11) in the household. R.R., Russell Renneau, was my g-gf, b. 12-03-1846. I.B. is not shown in any other censuses. We assume James(?) died in 1848/49. In a letter written by R.R. in 1897 to his cousin in Mississippi he states "where there will be no fathers dieing leaving poor widdows with helpless little children to be separated and lost to one another". Also "its good to know I have a living sister." No name given. I have look through all the LDS microfilm court records for Forsyth Co. GA. and have found nothing. Could R.R.'s middle name be Martha's maden name, Renneau? Any of you with Renneau or Reneau lines? Any Jenkins out there who had relatives in Forsyth County GA in the 1820-1860's? Martha and R.R. were in Chattooga Co. GA. for the 1860 and 1870 Censuses. R.R. married Mary Ann Hix in 1868. They moved to Bellefonte, Ark. in 1871 and were in the 1880 census there before they moved to Texas in 1882. Martha was not listed in the 1880 census in Bellefonte, Ark. or in the Forsyth Co., GA census of 1880. Any suggestions on how to trace Martha and James(?) back to or in S.C.? Thanks for your help. Dear Ramona: Thanks for the note. I descend from Elizabeth Small and her daughter Hannah Springer. If you have further information about the Jenkins's I'd be delighted to have it. (I'm trying to be more conscientious about sources, too.) Should "Nancy Ann Jenkins" be only "Anne Jenkins" or is there a reason for the added "Nancy?" The second Aaron Jenkins who died in 1807 had a daughter named Elizabeth Springer. My notes are not entirely clear -am working at organizing them.
Aaron Jenkins b. c.1752 lived in & owned land in Frederick Co. Virginia. Aaron Jenkins and Mary Jenkins had 6 children: John, George, Aaron, Susannah, Mary and Anne. Anne married John Small. His will was dated 27 Aug. 1759 and probated 5 Feb., 1760. They had two children or three -- Mary Small, Elizabeth Small and Jane Severall. Aaron was one of my ggg? grandfathers- it is very late and I don't want to count them. :-) My mother's maiden name is Jenkins. Looking forward to hearing from you. Ramona H.
Dear Kathleen and others: I have a note from Jim <[email protected]> from the SMALL Rootsweb List that Nancy Ann Jenkins married John Small in 1754 in Frederick County, Virginia. I don't think I have any locations for Aaron Jenkins. Dale Blanshan Kathleen Jenkins wrote: > Dale Blanshan wrote: > > > > I'm a new subscriber, a descendant of Nancy Ann Jenkins. Hi, List! Thought I would forward this on to the list to see if anyone can help. Kurt
I've a hint that my immigrant Jenkins, Reynolds (perhaps Reginald) is from the Isle of Man, off Wales. He was born in 1608, and came to Maine in 1634. I'm wondering if any of you have any Jenkins families originating on the Isle of Man? Kathleen Jenkins
I'm a new subscriber, a descendant of Nancy Ann Jenkins. My line follows. I understand that Nancy Ann Jenkins may have been the daughter of Aaron Jenkins, but I have little information about either.
