Gary, My great great grandfather, Coleman Jenkins, was living in Dade Co, GA during the 1850's. My great grandmother was born there in 1850; his other children were Sarah (1852), Martha (1855), Issac (1859), Cynthia (1860), and Joel (1862). Don't know if we're related, but Dade County is not a very large place, even today. Alton Jenkins
I am new to this method of inquiry. I am tracing my roots and could use some help. I have traced so far to a Luther S. JENKINS (born abt. 1851 in Ga.) His wife's name Viola (born abt 1855 in Ga). Many descendants still live in the Dade County, Ga. area. Does this connect with anyones family? If so, I would love to hear from you. Thank you in advance, Gary

Hello, Jenkins list! Just a reminder for those of you on AOL: The second Sunday of every month (i.e. next Sunday, May 10, Mothers' Day) there is a Jenkins chat in the "Family Reunion" chat room in the Genealogy Forum at 2:00 PT/5:00 ET. It lasts an hour. If you have AOL, then go to Keyword "Roots", click on the "Chats" button, and then on the "Family Reunion" button. Last month, the chat was on Easter Sunday, and this time it is on Mothers' Day, but hopefully attendance will pick up when they stop putting these darn holidays on Jenkins Chat days! ;-) If you can possibly show up, we would be thrilled to see you. Heck, since it is a family thing after all, bring Mom along! We would make her feel at home, too! Hope to see you there, Kurt Jenkins List Owner

Dear cousins, I am going to quit genealogy. You guys make me proud to be a Jenkins. You are all such good, kind, generous folks who have given of your time to try to help me, that it makes me proud to know that the Jenkins are such caring folks. Thank you Becky, Amy, Don, Dolly and Sharon of Washington State and Courtney, and all the rest of you. I will miss you all. I hope that you each one find your people. I would imagine that it would be a great joy to see the graves of folks who have made your lives possible, and that is what I pray for you. This diabetes has made it impossible for me to do for myself and one day when I am able to do for myself, then maybe I can sign up again and try to go for it then. Thank you all for taking an interest in my orphanage story with my ancestor, you all take good care, Susan of Tidewater VA _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
