The JENKINS line does show up, mid way down. My great great grandmother's sister married my great grandfather's 1/2 brother. My great grandfather's 1/2 brothers daughter married my grandfather (James Edgar JENKINS), and when she died my grandfather married her 1/2 cousin and my grandmother. 1. JENKINS, Robert b. 1788 VA>KY
    2. Lew Jenkins
    3. Hello all, Still looking for my GG-grandfather Robert JENKINS served in the war of 1812 and was a miller by trade. Robert Jenkins b. VA 1788 m. Frances ?(could be WILLIAMS) b. VA 1792 and had Gilbert Jenkins b about 1810 in VA, about Robert Jenkins, Jr. b about 1814 in VA., and the rest, Rachel b. 1815, Issac b. aft 1815, Elizabeth b. abt 1823 Henry, b. 1824, John b. 1825, and William (my g-grandfather) b. 11/1827, in KY. There is a Robert Jenkins on the list of taxpayers of Lee County, VA in 1810. His only taxable property is his horse. His age would be about 22, if he is "my" Robert Jenkins. Robert Jenkins was in the war of 1812 an listed in "Soldiers of the War of 1812" in the State of Virginia: Pvt. Robert Jenkins, SC-15374, Assigned to Captin M. Bailey's Company of Virginia Militia. Robert would have been 24 or 25 at this time. The family moved to Floyd Co. KY about 1814/15, because a son, Robert Jenkins, Jr. born in Virginia in 1814/15, according to his age as given in in the 1850 census report, and a daughter, Rachel Jenkins, was born in Kentucky in 1815. Robert would have been 26 or 27 when he brought his family to eastern Kentucky. The early life of Robert Jenkins is largely undocumented, in that no record of his birth, marriage, or death has been found. The name, Robert Jenkins, is mentioned a few times in Virginia records but they can be eliminated for various reasons (wrong age, wife, or children), except the following: This item is found in "Spotsylvania County, Will Book E" page 1636: JOHN JINKINS, SENR. of Spotsylvania County, died March 14, 1797 Executors: son Gipson Jenkins and John Carter Legitimate sons: Gipson, William, Charles, Robert, John Jr. (The daughters, if any, were not listed) Note: Using court and business records as a guide, the sons in order of age are probably: Charles, William, Gipson, John Jr., Robert. Robert Jenkins, born in 1788, would have been 9 years old when his father died. All the sons, except Robert, have established records in business and civic affairs that go back for many years. The apparent difference in age suggests that Robert's Mother is not the mother of the other sons of John Jinkins, Sr. Please keep in mind that this Robert Jenkins could be "my" Robert Jenkins, The above does not prove that he is. The following is the earliest mention of JOHN JINKINS, SR. that has been found in the Virginia county records at this time. *April 5, 1762: William Garrett and Elizabeth, his wife, of Spotsylvania County, to John Jenkins, of Hanover County; 90 pounds sterling currency, 500, acres in Spotsylvania County. *November 3, 1766 James (X) Jones and Mary, his wife, of St. George Parish, Spotsylvania County, to John Jinkins, 5 pounds sterling, a tract of land in St, George Parish. * June 21, 1795: Virginia Land Bounty Warrent issued Pvt. John Jenkins, 200 acres, for service in the Virginia Continental Line, enlistment was for the duration of the war. In the KY LAnd Grants page 604 Grantee: Robert Jenkins Acres: 50 Book: H Page: 150 date of Survey: 3-1-1821 County: FLOYD watercourse: FK Ginneys Creek MORGAN CO.
