They lived at the mouth of a branch that ran into Black Water, and this is where they started their family. This is somewhere in the vicinity of Abney Gap which is at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the northwest corner of Franklin county, Va. He loaded up his family and headed toward Kentucky sometime between June and October 1798.
