I have no idea why the following message went thru as an attachemnt yesterday because the ListServer will not accept attachments so I don't send them! I'll try again! ---------------------------------------------------------------> Going through my mother's papers and found genealogy information. Her hand written note states: "That first forefathers that she could find is Lazarus Dameron and Jane Jarrell. No record of date of birth for either one. An interesting story about Jane Jarrell, who was sometimes called Jenny Jarrell, is that she was kidnapped from a city in England. Evidently, it was a seacoast city because she could hear her family calling out "Jenny Jarrell" as they looked for her. She was on shipboard. When she reached land; she was taken off the ship and sold as a slave --it must have been a seacoast town in VA. She had to hoe tobacco, corn, and work in the house. I am not sure how Lazarus Dameron came into the picture but he sure did for he was the father of a boy called John Jarrell. Poor John didn't seem to have his father's name. As a child I heard the story of the family calling out to Jane but I never heard about the slave part. I think that my mother, a proud woman, was ashamed of that part of the story as well as the fact that Jane and Lazarus were not married. I thought you might enjoy this information. No solid facts, but family tradition of Jane Jarrell's arrival in America. Wiley Alston Jarrell 15610 Edenvale Friendswood Texas 77546 wajarrell@earthlink.net 281-482-3671 <><
