NOTE: An old family story relates that Harrison left Cabell Co. sometime in the mid to late 1820's and went west for a time. This appears correct for it is virtually certain that his daughter, Mary Ann, was born in Indiana in 1828. By 1830 Harrison and his family were back in Wayne Co., VA(WV) according to the 1830 census. Another Harrison Thacker is recorded in Ross Co., OH in the 1840 and 1850 census records. The 1830 census documents Harrison's 1st marriage. The household consists of 2 males, five years old or less, 1 male 20-30 years of age, 1 female five years old or less, and 1 female 5 to 10 years old. NOTE: The Records of Ruth V. Waterman lists the following as the children of Harrison and Elvira Drinkard: 1. Elisha, b. abt 1826; 2. Charles, b. abt 1826; 3: Mary Ann, 1828-1890. BURIAL: Harrison is thought to be buried with many other members of this family in a cemetery located on Thacker Ridge off Rock Lick Road in Wayne Co. There may be more than one Thacker cemetery in this area. Edna Smith Casanave told Ruth Waterman that she had visited with Carrie Ferguson Adkins on Thacker Ridge in 1985. There are many field stones, but only the following engraved stones: Harrison Thacker, Company H, 13th Va. Inf.; Stephen Thacker, Company G., W.Va. Cav.; Catherine Hatten, b. 1839 (wife of Vinson Hatten); Louisa Thacker, July 8 1865-Nov. 8, 1932 (wife of John W. Lewis). One large flat stone bears the name LEWIS. The stones were photographed by Edna Smith Casanave in May 1985. NOTE: There is a World Family Tree pedigree for a Reuben Thacker, b. 1 Apr 1809 in VA, d. 12 Mar, 1886 in Silver Lake, Indiana. He married twice: (1) to Minnie Farrand who died 21 June 1865 in Seneca Co., Ohio and (2) Lydia Beigh, b. 1 May 1820, m. 2 March, 1848 in Seneca Co., Ohio, d. 1901 in Silver Lake, Indiana. The first marriage produced 3 daughters and one son. The second marriage produced two daughters and two sons. Is this Reuben a brother of Harrison? Harrison was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Vuena Vista, No. 60, AF of AM. HARDESTY'S HISTORY OF WAYNE COUNTY, p. 150, 151, mentions that Harrison served on the first grand jury empanneled in Wayne Co.
