Wold The last time I posted this query to the JARRELL ListServer was 10 Jun 2004 and lots of changes have come in. We have seven generations of ancestors for Rosetta but we only have twenty six descendants for this couple. I guess I should mention that GORE, PETTRY, TONEY ancestors are also rather lenghty for Rosetta! Of course that's pretty much true for a lot of West Virginians! MASSEY M | BORN: | MARR: | DIED: | NOTE: unknown - added for descendancy chart purposes ====================================================================== HISTORY NOTES: Rosetta Jane JARRELL notes from Charles Michael Jarrell, 11 Jun 2004 Here is the story told to me about Rosetta and Philip Hurst. Hurst was a Mormon missionary in WV and Rosetta fell for him. Rosetta's, mother, Julia Ann, wanted her to marry George Washington Massey, thinking him a better and more stable catch. So Rosetta did that. Cynthia Frances Jarrell, Rosetta's sister, married George's brother, John Delmar Massey. Both of these couples then left WV (were run out according to my UT cousins) and went to Manassa CO. After a few years, George Washington Massey went back to WV leaving Rosetta and children in CO. Subsequently, Rosetta moved to Salt Lake City and lived in a house just off Temple Square (which I saw during the visit). She never remarried. After her death the family had her sealed to Philip Hurst as husband and wife.
