APV(TONEY)80-1760 says Amanda is daughter of Lemuel and Elizabeth; US Census 1870: Amanda Rupe: white female age 50 b: VA; keeping house; can't read or write. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Unsubstantiated data from the internet, 12 Sep 2000 Pondexter Toney came to Kanawha Co.WVA With his family and settled there He had a Son named Jesse toney ,that was suppose to have come to Fayette co.,bought 7309 acres of land for back taxes from the Commonworth of Virginia for the sum of $100. and settled there on what was to be called Mossey Creek with his wife Amanda Jarrell, from Jarrell Valley on Coldriver WV. They were the first family to have a white child born in this region 1848.
