While fleshing the marriages and wills of my New Jersey root for surname JAMES, ............Robert born ca 1672, I find his sons and his daughters families drifting southwest from Middlesex Co., Windsor Twp, N.J. to the areas of the southwestern parts of N.J. such as Salem and other PA boundary areas. Below is the will of Thomas, one of Robert's sons. Another will for one Kitty (Catherine) JAMES of Salem Co. is listed for Mar. 10, 1792. She was a SINNICKSON (her mother was Rachel, of John, Esp. of Penns Neck, Salem Co.). The family had ties to the McKNIGHT family of which one of Robert's daughters married into in the Monmouth Co. area. Her will lists cousins named HUNT, BAINBRIDGE, .......some of Hunterdon Co. ..........the husband of Kitty JAMES is dec'd and to date I have not located who this is. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Was given a tract of land in Middlesex Co. of which his father, Robert, had purchased at the Sheriff's sale of John Lecount at New Windsor. WILL: Note: Richard, Robert, and Thomas the dec'd are sons of Robert JAMES of birth ca 1672 who died 1778 in Monmouth Co., N.J. The HERBERT children are the children of the sister, Rebecca JAMES.
