Looking for descendants of Glen(n) H.JAMES who was born in Iowa in ca 19003/04 in Wisconsin. He moved between Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota and may have lived in California (only a guess). He may have even died before his parents and may not have any! The search is about his mother and father: Herbert W. JAMES born in Iowa ca 1884/86. son of : (??) JAMES who may have been English, Canadian, or American [ census readings vary, but 1880 says English, 1885 and 1895 Iowa State say foreign and English] and Phebe DONALDSON who was born in Canada. Herbert married Myrtle [given name of Ellen Myrtle} KENDALL who was also born in Iowa in ca 1899. Her parents given as Lucy STOLL [STOWELL] and George A. KENDALL by research. I have ordered their death certificates for more verification. These families of KENDALL, DONALDSON, and JAMES have history of living in the triangle corners areas of Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa for years. Herbert's mother Phebe JAMES died ca 1935 in Ramsey County, Minnesota as did her son, Herbert who died in 1965. Myrtle KENDALL-JAMES died in Los Angeles in 1958. We are not sure if there was a divorce or she was visiting, perhaps her daughter, "Bernice" [which may also be wrong!??]. This is a most interesting family photo research and discovery project. The interesting fact about Glen: he was 17 and listed in the 1930 census as the head of household in Mille Lacs Co., Wisconsin with no job but was listed with his Grandmother, Phebe JAMES who was given as a "farmer". They may have been on a family farm where the DONALDSON family had land as the elder brothers of Phebe were mostly single and there were about 5 of them. I speculate that perhaps Glen needed a place to land as his parents ,sister, and Uncle Richard JAMES were boarding in a household in Ramsey County, Minnesota.....St. Paul where the men, including the head of house were listed as "private contractors". Herbert and Richard may have been employed by the head of house or for the same "contractor" as the head. Hope someone may recognize something in these facts or be interested in the surrounding research from these counties Iowa: FILLMORE, WINONA, KOSSUTH, WINNESHIEK. in Minnesota: RAMSEY in Wisconsin: MILLE LACS. Buried in the WINNESHIEK cemetery: James, Mary 27 1881 1908 Bluffton Ceme Bluffton Twp James, Napoleon 91 1842 Nov 9 1933 Nov 18 Lutheran Cem Decorah Twp KOSSUTH and WINNESHIEK counties in Iowa seem to be the early beginnings of the relationship with the JAMES/DONALDSON marriage of the English James JAMES and Phebe DONALDSON. James JAMES was 31 and single in 1880 in Wesley, Kossuth, Iowa, 38 in same place in 1885 Iowa State census with the Township name given of Elkhorn. In the Iowa 1895 State census of Wesley, Kossuth, Iowa. The family has listed 4 sons in same place with Jim(a) age 46, Feba age 39 George H.(11), Herbert W. (9), Richard (3), and Russell (0) [Russell is under 1 year old thus enumerated age of "0"). Of the 4 boys. have only found Richard JAMES who died and never married in Minnesota. Phebe DONALDSON was 25 and single in 1880 in Wesley, Kossuth, Iowa. I estimate the marriage as being in about 1883, Kossuth, Iowa. Most of her family were mostly in Decorah census lists at this time.
