They are not my family so I don't have a lot of information but I happen to have a transcription of the will of Francis James from the King George Co, VA will book A-1 dated Oct 24, 1717, in which he bequethed land to his son Sherwood James. V33 of the Virginia Historical Magazine also has about a one page discussion of the James, Sherwood and Taliaferro families. In part it states "Francis James died in King George Co in 1721, leaving a widow, Margaret, two sons, Francis and Sherwood, and a daughter Jane. In his will, written Oct 24 1717, he names his sister-in-law Martha Marshall. There is some evidence that this Martha Marshall was the widow of Thomas Marshall, the great grandfather of the Chief Justice; and the late Henry Strother stated that the wife of Thomas Marshall was Martha Sherwood. Indications would point, then, to the wife of Francis James having been Margaret Sherwood." There is more, if you have not seen this and are interested.
