    3. Oh my gosh, will miracles never cease! This is my Mary Ann James who married Patrick J. Moss. She was 6 years old on the 1850 Census. Where have you had her hidden all this time? I have been unable to find her on a census anywhere after her marriage on 10 Nov 1866 to Patrick J. Moss in LaPortee Co., IN. I have have her father's name and other info concerning and a good guess for her mother. Her father was Joel James, b. VA. Probably her mother was the Martha Hannon who married a Joel James in 1832 in Warren Co., IN. Joel appeared in Marshall Co., IN., about 1838 as a squatter on some abandoned land there. By 1850 his second wife has died and he is married a third time and living in Starke Co., IN. By 1860, he is in St. Joseph Co., IN., and by 1870 both he and his third wife has died leaving several minor children. After this I lose several of the children and can't seem to find them. Mary had an older sister, probably a daughter of the first wife, named Jane who married a Beagles and some divorced after 2 children. She is lost also. Family tradition has it that Joel James married three times and had 21 children. I have names of only 11 or 12 of them. Perhaps some of them died young. I don't know. Johnita Norman H.
