I am Thurston James Sherman Oaks CA I'm looking for some of the history of Volney James b.(1821) I know a lot but I want more! Volney married his 1st cousin,Martha James m.(1845) They had two children Burilla Carolyn James b.(1846) and 'Brud' William Mosby James b.(1849) Volney lived in Ohio Co. Kentucky He left with his family (he was one of four families) to go to Corning Arkansas, just before the Civil War -- 1861 After the war, the families went back to Kentucky. All but Volney! His wife and children went back with the group, but somehow Volney did not make the trip home. He was about 40 years old. MY QUESTION -- does the name "Volney James" sound familiar to anyone? I am making the assumption that he died in Arkansas, has anyone seen a grave stone in Arkansas Or, perhaps he left Martha? married someone else? and they might have had children? VOLNEY JAMES -- anyone?
